Maybe we can grow new teeth in the future

It’s not surprising that many people fear the dentist. Replacing a tooth often requires invasive surgery and implanting a titanium screw into a patient’s jawbone, then waiting months for that to strengthen into an artificial root, before attaching a crown or cap on top of it.

But research groups around the world are working to find ways to implant or grow real biological teeth in a human jaw.

That would be so great… who doesn’t want extra teeth?

I recently found out that we can’t regrow our gums; gum recession is irreversible :pensive:

Not true buddy. I had recessed gums years ago. I went hard on a Sonicare toothbrush, solved it all.

So the mechanical toothbrush caused your gums to grow back?

Pretty much. It massages the gums while it cleans. Really gets under there. I don’t even floss that much, but in your case, I would recommend it if you’re just battling back.

Gotta use it 2 minutes a session. Totally worth it, and your teeth are like you came from the hygenist.

I had gum surgery in 2006. My periodontist instructed me to use sonicare on teeth, masssage gums with it and also use a waterpik. Have had no issues now for 19 years.

Damn, im gonna have to try this then & see if my dentist notices anything different.

It’s gonna take a few months, but I noticed huge improvement from cleaning to cleaning. My gum numbers went from 4 and 5s (very bad) to 2s and 3s, with an occasional 4 on a still intact wisdom tooth (harder to clean).

It works!

Before my surgery in 2006 to remove excess bone, which was pulling my gums down to 5 and 6s. After a few months I was at 2 and 3s and remain there today.
