Meanwhile, Iran war

If i was in Congress i would stop the funding.
This administration never made the case for the war and is showing no strategy for victory. End it now and move on, i don’t think months of a blockade will change Iran’s stance

Congress certainly has that power.

We’ll see what they do.

Lincoln was given four years.

Imagine if, after Fort Sumter and First Bull Run, people had been as pessimistic with him, declared the war lost, and then demand that he give it up after the first few months?

Glad folks had a bit more sense back then.

This excursion shouldn’t ever be conpared to the Civil War
Now you’ve done it twice
Let me know when this excursion frees the slaves and keeps the union together

Just a little bit
Is he grasping at straws or really that delusional?
Or maybe all Wars are alike to him?
I remember when this one was going be another Kosovo

No, but again, the idea that a war must be won in a few weeks or months would be pretty unusual…pretty unrealistic…pretty silly…and a pretty poor excuse to start up a bunch of defeatist rhetoric…especially for someone that gave you know who 8 years in Afghanistan without similar complaints.

I didn’t say it would be another Kosovo. I brought up Kosovo as an example of a war that could be and was won by airpower alone, and required no ground invasion…ideally this war won’t require a major ground invasion either.

We’ll see.

Patience young Jedi.

Lincoln didn’t give up after the first few months of that war…and I thank God for it.

So why insist that the current admin. do so?

In part because they set up these expectations.

Law,

Prior to the attack, the Strait of Hormuz actively had up to 200 ships passing through each day.

We attacked Iran, and they closed the Strait of Hormuz.

Then we created a blockade, for a Strait that’s already closed.

Obviously this administration thought this “excursion” would end quickly. That’s why he called it “excursion” That’s why we claimed a win immediately.
Now its time for patience? I call BS. This was never the plan and now we’re trying to find an acceptable solution

So Marco Rubio told reporters in a WH briefing that Epic Fury was over, and we have no moved on to Operation Freedom.

Yet DT here proclaims that Epic Fury won’t reach the end until a deal is made, and is therefore, still an active operation.

It wasn’t close to THEM until we blockaded it. Get it right.

Again, we’ll see who cries “uncle” first.

How do you define quickly?

Many US wars have dragged on for far longer, comparatively speaking.

Everything is relative.

And comparable to the Civil War :face_with_peeking_eye:

Again, it wasn’t closed to Iran.

Only when we clamped our own blockade down were their own ships not getting through.

Their ships are still getting through. It’s just less convenient now.

Sources vary on that.

Some say that very few are getting few with far more being turned around.

FAR LESS Iranian vessel traffic than before.

Far more than a mere “inconvenience.”

At first we could win by Air
Now your telling us we’ll win by Navy
Tell us which war we should compare it to that was won by naval blockade
Can’t use the Civil War this time, that took troops on the ground.

I simply said that Kosovo was won by air alone, and hopefully this could be as well. Gotta be optimistic!

Then I said that hopefully it can be won by air and naval power. Again, nothing to be gained by defeatism.

In both cases, such a win would not involve a major land invasion.

I assume you share my hope that it can be won without a major land invasion, right?

All right then.

“Far less” and “very few” are both very different than “not getting through at all.” Each tanker that goes through is worth ~$200MM, so it isn’t something to be dismissed.

There has been at least one oil tanker and an LPG tanker that have passed in the last two days.

In fact, Scott Bessent said in an interview yesterday that the US has “let” several tankers pass to “supply the global market.” This is almost certainly spin to cover for the fact that some are getting through. If it isn’t spin, then the blockade isn’t really a blockade.

Oh, it would still be a blockade.

If they aren’t running the blockade, and it’s extremely unlikely that a tanker could, and we are simply selectively letting a few pass, then we are in control.

I doubt that’s a cover. Those aren’t exactly fast vessels that could outrun a destroyer.
