Meanwhile, Iran war

I already gave you three examples.

You ignored one and punted on two.

That wasn’t the question.
Now that this excursion is over? Which war is it most comparable too in history. Don’t tell me the outcome resemblances Bosnia  be sincere

Most members of Congress see the AUMF extension as a political convenience. They can either support or disavow a military action without casting a vote. Perfect!

The only foreign intervention that I feel was justified since the time I’ve been conscious about these things was Afghanistan. Iraq, Syria, Libya, Iran, Venezuela
just completely senseless interventions without a direct benefit to the American people, with politicians trying to play world police or fulfilling the wishes of corrupt entities with the lives and money of regular Americans.

I understand the intervention in Bosnia to an extent, but being a NATO operation at least the responsibilities were shared and wasn’t unilateral. I still feel we are not morally obligated to act unilaterally like we have up to this point in other countries when we have crumbling infrastructure and a deficient healthcare system at home.

Every war has its own unique issues.

But those are all recent wars that lacked the Congressional authorizations you hold so dear.

Who’s punting now
You’ve used every war , going as far back as the civil war to justify prosecuting this one to the fullest.
So tell us now, which specific war did it end up comparing to most?

This excursion is a perfect example of why all Americans should hold Congressional approval dear.

Maybe the Undeclared War with France.

Lots of naval and trade/shipping related action.

Little ground action.

No declaration.

Which is the one where we started in a perfectly decent spot, proceeded to make everything worse, had to negotiate crappier terms to get back to something resembling the original status quo, alienated literally everyone except a shitacular “ally” who is currently being run by equally religious fanatical lunatics that will blow up any deal they can
But we killed like 18 really bad guys so it was all totally worth it for our explosion masturbation?

Hard to draw a real comparison there

Maybe there’s something to that seeking Congressional approval thing.

Perhaps worst outcome possible for US.
Taiwan should be very nervous watching how this played out.

I’d be really concerned by that if I wasn’t 90% sure Iran is going to screw this up and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory - probably after the elections.

They are so dumb/crazy. They are getting everything they should ever want.

They could rebuild their crumbling infrastructure and become a prosperous member of the global community.

But they will end up proving why you can’t negotiate with crazy. Today they are more concerned with flexing via Hezbollah than paying their own military. Cray cray and foolish as always.

If Iran wasn’t crazy, but were some kind of sane jihadist terrorist group (a hypothetical) they’d play this cool until the US ships go home.
