Meanwhile, Iran war

Why should we be concerned or not, and how is that germane to the Iran War?

Really, :joy:

Not understanding is funny

TexAgs has devolved so much that they only communicate in emoji’s, and they only have about 12 of them. Half of those are different poop colors.

And if not, don’t drop the first bomb to start with. You can’t put this genie back into the bottle. It’s now a problem that will need to be taken care of.

It sure looks like they may have gotten us into another “forever war”. I sure hope I’m wrong.

What’s your definition of a “full measure” in terms of learning lessons?

How would you know?

#Turkey has reached an agreement to transfer its Russian #S400 long-range air-defence systems to an unnamed Gulf state, with the #UAE and #Qatar cited as possible buyers. The move could help resolve Turkey’s dispute with Washington and clear the way for Turkey to resume procurement of F-35A fifth-generation fighters

2 paths protect our troops reasonably and get this done.

  1. Bomb Kharg. This plus a blockade bankrupts the regime enough that they can’t pay their secret police who kill their citizens enough to keep them in line.

  2. bomb all their power plants in 1 day except enough to run water systems
The pressure to stop this will be immense once you start so gotta do it all at once unfortunately. (It’s dual use and not a war crime.).

With 1 or 2 you hit IRGC and military factories again.

1 hurts us more I think it’s better though.

Both are politically untenable so it won’t happen.

We are stuck in limbo land hoping to get back where we were in February. Iran knows that.

Uh
don’t quite know how that would work. I mean, its not like the power plants are necessarily exclusive to water systems and everything else can just be turned off.

Whatever happened to the wiping out an entire civilization threats (with or without any legal basis) being offered as a negotiation?

How’s that deal working out?

No deal matters or works. The Iranian regime is run by lunatics.

This silly dance won’t work without an uprising within Iran.

Do we have boots on the ground? The answer will be clearly no. Yes, I am all in favor of taking Kharg Island yesterday.

Take Kharg Island? Sure. What could possibly go wrong? It’s one thing to seize it, but then what? Holding it is problematic.

Let’s start with the location of the island. It sits in close proximity to the mainland, so US troops would be vulnerable to Iranian attacks. Despite all the tough talk about how we’ve depleted their military, Iran has proven to still be more than capable of hitting targets with precision and lethality. Whether it’s using long/range artillery, ballistic missiles, surface to air missiles, mines, or drones, Iran could inflict significant damages and mass casualties to our troops and the region over time.

This would no doubt put the administration in an awkward position of having to eventually withdraw our troops or escalate into a regional conflict that could drag on for years. Troops on the ground? Just my opinion, but that would be political suicide. Is that what you’re advocating?

Taking Kharg Island isn’t another easy takeover like Venezuela. Anyone thinking Iran will simply lay down their weapons and allow the U.S. take a part of their country that supplies 90% of their crude oil exports, the lifeline to their economy, is kidding themselves.

Aside from mass casualties, Iran would also likely strike regional oil and energy infrastructures in the Gulf. Again, they’ve already hit Kuwait, Qatar, and elsewhere in the Gulf. And not just oil and energy, but regional military bases, ports, and airports. Curious, what do you think the global economic implications would be if Iran retaliated by taking out critical oil and energy infrastructure in the Gulf region?

Control of the Strait is what gives Iran leverage. Kharg Island doesn’t change that.
