Nope, and really neither should we. I empathize with them, we’ve been there before. But I’m not handing over our invite to then to make them feel good or evening.

I think ppl need to realize none of these are full stops. Whether you are inside or outside looking in. This is a constant process and the only teams that will survive through every wave of this who have the following -
Large and growing fan base > 40k in football and > 8k in basketball
Consistent success on the field for football and basketball
Consistent investment in the facilities to stay Uber competitive though strong institutional support
Strong political support when needed.
So, just bcoz we are in now does not mean we will be in next time. Only paranoids survive.

@NeilC…great post! I think we should consider this a temporary stop and be continually preparing ourselves for the next alignment shift. If we spend wisely and focus on strengthening our programs, we’ll become attractive to future expansion options and the networks.

I feel for Memphis. Good, passionate fans. Competitive sports. Blue collar university. Just couldn’t or wouldn’t keep up in the facilities arms race.
As for Muffy and Biff? I wouldn’t piss on them if they were on fire.
