We did a great job of limiting TCU’s possessions with long time chewing drives, clock control and forcing TCU to chew clock when they had scoring drives. I think we won b/c they did not have enough possessions to score more.

I am sure Tulane is saying the same thing, the way Fritz left G5 for P5 and took recruits, players and coaches, plus a big payday was dead wrong!

Briles’ offense is a double whammy for the team’s defense. The 3 and outs wear down and demoralize the defense and when Briles go up tempo, the defense has more plays to defend in the game. Consider that in 2023, TCU’s average time of possession per game was 27:20. The average time of possession of its opponent’s was 32:40.
Any offense that is stacking up 3 and outs is bad offense. Everyone agrees with that.
If your up-tempo offense lengthens the game (downs played) by using less clock - then yes it hurts your defense - and their defense.
Whose defense has more depth? Maybe more total downs in a game is to your advantage.
I am not pro Briles, but ‘IF’ an up-tempo or pass happy offense is increasing your chance of scoring on any given series then it is worth considering

They may say the same thing, but they didn’t have guys on staff recruiting against Tulane while still working there. And I’m fairly sure their coach didn’t bail out before a bowl game.

Bingo. This is the tried and true method to beat a Briles or similar offense. Others did it to us over the last 20 years.
I was going to say the same thing, we saw it first hand. When Kendalls O is running it’s masterpiece and most of the time it is. But when it’s not it’s really not. The Vols use a lot of Briles stuff and they couldn’t move against Arkansas Saturday.
Looks like every team has a Pearland.

Not many coaches leave for other jobs without some controversy…unless they are fired lol
Very true, but the way he did UH on the way out the door was still wrong, no matter his excuse.
Be nice to those you meet on the way up because you will meet them on the way down
