Metro Charging For Light Rail to UH Games

Only our fans would get on a rant about paying $1.25 to ride the train to avoid paying for parking or driving and getting dropped off a few steps from the entrance.

Unbelievable.

I’m wondering if they are still doing FREE parking at one of the Daikin parking lots, walk across the street and catch rail at soccer stadium rail stop? They’ve done that in the past also.

For less than a cup of coffee you can sponsor a UH fan to get to the game by rail

You are correct, for UH, light rail was free for 1 game in 2026, 5 in 2016, and for the Texans if was free for 2011-13 and if you pay to park in the Fannin South they will give you a wristband for everyone in your car to get a round trip to the stadium.

As an idea Free Light Rail if you wear red is a myth.

I think they made it free for 1 game so they could then start enforcing it, with raising property tax exemptions and property values going down, all the quasi-governmental entities are tightening their belts.

Also the parking at Minute Maid was back in 2018, I pregame at Rodeo Goat in Eado and pass those empty lots every week.

I always keep a folded up printout from 2016 as my excuse, just in case the Fare Inspectors try to get tough with me. So far it hasn’t been necessary.

I sent Nunez an email telling him to fix attendance. I also told him I’m not going to games anymore because of the $2 Metro ride.

Two dollars for a ride to the game?

Why is that a problem?

As long as you have a safe place to park near a rail station it’s not a problem

Commie train should pay me to ride it

you know, every other school in the country offers a free gameday shuttle…

Might need to clarify. I ride a free shuttle from the purple garage to TDECU whenever I am there for a game.

most schools have shuttles from free off-campus parking. it helps disperse the crowd and manage that whole traffic thing people keep whining about.

In Soviet Russia, train rides you!

OK, so the off-campus part was the clarification part.

Not sure how many lots there are nearby that are empty on game days reliably and also free. Saw something across 5 but that might just be 100 or so spots.

How do they expect me to pay $18 for a beer if it costs me $2 to get to the game?

Another excuse for some not to show up. Who cares. This is silly.

It is… but I think maybe the Mayor can nominate a couple board members. I could be wrong on that part about the board.

Everybody keeps exaggerating the issue.

It’s $1.25, not $2. Get your facts straight.
