They still play it on the radio in the Yucatan. My son and I still talk about jamming to that song while we were driving down some dirt roads in the middle of nowhere near Sacapuc, a few years back.

Weird radio station.

I also heard Prince’s Batdance on that radio station… probably for the first time since 1989. (Admit it, you forgot about that “gem” of a song )

Nice thread gang, some fun takes. My younger self had some stronger opinions but music seems less intrusive these days and i found myself enjoying the great variety out there.

Overplayed or overrated?

I’m not a huge Pink Floyd fan, but I will say that I think David Gilmour is a fantastic guitarist.

Somebody’s never seen Dark Side of the Rainbow…:exploding_head::exploding_head::exploding_head::smile:

I assume overrated, but I’ve noticed that many overrated songs are also overplayed.

See “That’s What Friends Are For” for reference.

I hadn’t thought of that song since the 80s. As for the sentiment, we have plenty of love songs, more Friendship songs the better. My personal favorite on that theme “Why Can’t We be Friends” by War. Great line- “I know you are working for the CIA, they wouldn’t have you in the Mafia”

I got turned on to Pink Floyd with “Meddle”. So different, so cool. Went to see them at Merriweather Post Pavilion (Post build Mir-A-Lago) in 1973. One of the best shows I ever saw.

Disagree.

I had a couple of different Beatles’ compilation albums, and honestly couldn’t stop playing 'em.

That falls into my “overplayed” category. I used to go shoot pool at this place on Hilcroft (I can’t remember the name). You couldn’t go an hour without somebody playing that song on the jukebox.

I respect the Stones place in rock and roll history, but I’ve never been a fan, except for Waiting on a Friend. The only reason I like that song is that the music video was filmed in front of the same apartments as the Physical Grafiti album cover.
