NBA All Star Game Unwatchable

nobody is making anyone watch it. why complain? just dont watch.

The actual equivalent here is NFL Pro Bowl. Let’s check on that event
I’m sure they are still playing full tackle 11 on 11 style foot
 touches finger to ear
oh I am being told it’s flag football and tug of war now.

I don’t watch it, just reacting to a few statements here. It is ok to disagree, right?

Oh I didn’t haven’t in years lol

How are you more likely to get hurt playing defense than flying in for dunks at every opportunity? They don’t play defense because it’s not as fun and doesn’t play as much to the casual fan as playing offense. It’s that simple. I think the game just needs to go away. Name guys as all stars so they can get their props and contract incentives, but don’t actually play a game. Stick with 3 point contest, dunk contest and skills challenge. Then again, I never watch the game anyway, so I guess who cares.

Oh they’ve now admitted to not watching. Just complaining to complain

Oh wow
a brand has created an event where they make money, have fun, get a ton of media attention and fan engagement and they should cancel it because they “don’t play defense”?

Why isn’t this said of the Harlem Globetrotters?

It should be fairly obvious how performing a skill without aggressive, full contact, physical body interference is more safe than with it.

I don’t watch biathlon but I am not making suggestions on how they should run their events or suggesting they should cancel them.

I honestly don’t care how they do their all star game. Like I said, I don’t really watch. But, I see non-contact injuries in every sport every year. Flying through the air and emphatically dunking a ball (defense or no defense) can get someone hurt. My only point is if people are afraid of getting hurt, then just don’t play. But again, just my opinion, if that is allowed on here.

Coming from you I hope that’s satire. Otherwise a pretty dumb thing to come back with

It’s a bad opinion because you’re acting like it’s a black/white, either/or when it comes to risk mitigation when it is more of a calculus with many variables. Why do we pull starters with 5 or even 10 minutes to go in the game when we’ve blown out an opponent?

To let them rest lol and give other’s some playing time

And why do we let them rest? lol

I don’t like a thing I definitely don’t care about. I need a safe space where I can vent about my feelings about this thing I don’t participate in but also absolutely have strong opinions about that need to be heard!

Okie doke. I’m ok agreeing to disagree on this one.

I would love to see the best compete against each other. Put some money on the line for the winner to cash in. That’s what they’re playing for now so make it happen. Everyone would watch it then.

I can’t remember the last all-star game in ANY sport I watched. They just don’t interest me. But I do enjoy the NBA (and all the other major sports leagues, too) and they certainly play defense in the NBA. Players who are weak defensively get exposed quickly, and unless they are lights out on offense they won’t see much playing time. The length of the season causes players to ration out their energy, thus load management, but especially in the playoffs defense is a focus. I’m not saying the NBA is as exciting, on a single game basis, as college hoops, but the quality of player and play is far superior.

Funny you said that. I only saw a little bit, but in several highlights guys actually were passing up dunks!
