Had to do a double take when I saw the score this morning.

The store on the sports channel this morning was ā€œthey donā€™t want to get hurt so they donā€™t play defenseā€.

Not sure why this is news. Been like this for decades. I remember watching Shaq throw up a FT so he could run in, get the rebound and get a slam. It was such a a ridiculous and unnecessary play but nobody really cared. Itā€™s mostly just an offensive showcase and scoring has gotten better do the score is ridiculous. Speaking of ridiculous, in 28 minutes KAT went 23-35 for 50 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. And yet somehow his +/- was -6ā€¦

How is it dumb when a potential injury can cost a player millions, a team playoff/championship opportunities, a franchise ticket sales, the league with major stars sidelined? With so much at stake you think itā€™s dumb to not risk it?

The NBA in general is unwatchable. Yeah they are skilled but there is only so much ā€˜no defenseā€™, drive the lane, and shoot 3s I can watch.

Unless you have a good center like Sengun then just watch the Rockets.

Then cancel the event and move on. They could get hurt in any regular season too.
Cancel everything and go directly to the playoffs.

Exactly itā€™s like the football players not playing in bowl games, itā€™s crap, anyone can get hurt anytime, most have played their sport their entire lives and most donā€™t have major injuries

Thereā€™s a lot of odd ā€œgrumpy old manningā€ going on here. Yeah no oneā€™s cared about paying defense in the All-star game in like 20 years. Itā€™s a fun weekend for players to ā€œf aroundā€ on in a fun and ultimately meaningless game.

No reason to get mad about something everyone knew what was coming.

The NBA All-Star Weekend and Game are major media marketing and fan engagement events. Itā€™s not about how competitive the Game or any of the other events are. Itā€™s to showcase current NBA talent, highlight upcoming talent and honor past NBA legends. Itā€™s NBA homecoming celebrating the culture. If you want locked-in competitiveness then you can tune into the NBA Cup, NBA Playoffs or The Finals.

Do you not understand the difference between an in competition game and an exhibition one?
