I like Nebraska, but it is no longer better than Baylor as a HC job.
The fact the Kansas HC is having success is yet another thorn in the Nebraska side.

Compare the potential ceilings of the programs. I think Baylor’s is higher. Not saying Aranda won’t move along at some point, but certainly not to Nebraska. I’d be shocked.
Baylor isn’t a destination job for most coaches, so you are right on that.

Baylor is in Texas and can recruit Texas players vs Nebraska on an island now. No one thinks of going there now. OU is at least a safety net for Texas kids and recruits bc it’s closer.

After Brian Kelly left Norte Dame for LSU, I’m convinced there isn’t ANY school that is a destination program. It’s all about fit and financial support nowadays and less about the prestige.
In other words, Dave Aranda may go to Nebraska. But he’s got everything he needs at Baylor.

Not so sure about this.
On the issue of Aranda, I don’t see why a coach would want to take on a turnaround project these days. Other than life-altering money, the odds have to be against you to survive. There have been so many that I thought would succeed but didn’t.
nobody cares…it might as well be in some dusty library shelf history…

If I’m Aranda I’m perfectly happy at Baylor until a real blue blood comes calling. Might push for pay raise from Baylor in the meantime though.
They may offer him that…take the life altering money, or stay to your principle’s and not go to a coaches graveyard. He’s got a family to feed. Big decision. If he goes to NE it will be for the right reason for him, I feel.

If Nebraska offers something ridiculous like 10 years @10M per then Baylor should offer him 60-75 guaranteed and that should keep him happy right? I mean how much money do you really need to be “filthy rich”?

I mean i don’t have anything against Nebraska. I’ve always kinda favored them over the other teams in their conference. There was a time only two programs could pull a Texas recruit away from Nebraska. The B10 just bled them like a stuck deer.
I wonder what all the old timers in Lincoln think of that move to the B10 these days. When you think about the brand damage you gotta scratch your chin.
OU can recruit Texas. Ever since Nebraska left the Big 12 they can’t.
