New Big 12 Football Uniforms

That’s 1/6 of the regular season. Too much. Doesn’t leave enough space for other alts.

IMO, we should wear our primaries (:red_circle::red_circle::white_circle: or all-red) at least half the time, black/anthracite exactly once, houston blue exactly once, and exactly one throwback game.

!!! (added just for minimum character barrier which is quite the most WTF thing I’ve ever seen)

We need a lesson from the OGs on here as to what era did UH use the navy blue accent. Was it around in the Yeoman years, the 70s Cotton Bowl, or even back in the 60s?

I know they were using blue in 1965 when I first started attending games as a kid. It stayed in the uniform continuously until recently.

The question should be, WHY? My likely guesses, it was an attempt to gain a sense of Texas pride support (fail) or it was a cost cutting/budget hit item. However, outside of nostalgia/history (meaning UH history only) UH athletic department should never go away from the University’s school colors again.

Totally agree. The Oilers were losers in part because of those stupid looking powder blue uniforms. We don’t need black uniforms either. Just red and white or white with red.

Nah not really tho… oilers colors looked good on the oilers and look good as Coog alternates.

Got me thinking how this town (and nationwide cfb folks) were buzzing about oilercoog uni’s last year… looked so good

Agree with @PBRCoog, I have some game worn jerseys from the early SWC days and blue was a nice outline color.

The buzz with the uniforms and the S&D that followed (2 weeks afterwards) was short lived! Is that what we are marketing for our university? I say, No Oiler blue and no blue trim moving forward. Let’s be innovating with the university’s color pallet for our athletic department (unless nostalgic/historical CBY era and PSJ purposes). Maybe 1 time:3-5 years for football and 1-3 time(s):1 year for BB, not sure if the percentage is equitable. Please don’t hold me to the percentage usage.

Haven’t you been trying to rob of us our traditional blue for decades? Now you’re coming after our cherished Columbia blue? So many many people (I mean other than a couple dudes on coogfans) love it. One game a year (maybe two some years, just to show off the white road oilercoogs) would be perfect.

YES!!

insert Big Chief Tablet jokes here…

Ha Ha! Not trying to rob US nor Y’ALL of anything. Just trying to market the athletic department better with something that would be unique within the state of Texas’ P4 (a color scheme… Scarlette Red, Albino White with an accent Grey or Silver or WITHOUT ANY ACCENT).

With exceptions of tribute occasions, old school uniforms (blue trim) would be fine but not too often.

I know you love your “Blue” and now I see that you are a “LUV YA BLUE” advocate makes me cringe even more.

Love UH’s history: Known it all my life.

However, if it makes you feel more comfortable my preference is the skinny UH without an accent.

Since it’s been a while, IIRC…

Eradicate the color “Blue” from the athletic department’s school colors
If you want “Blue” root for Rice
If you want Red and “Blue” root for Smoo…

There’s that old treacherous tagline trying to eradicate our tradition

Tradition is just peer pressure from dead people.

I like dead people, especially the ones who hated white helmets, and loved blue accent colors on UH uniforms.

Isn’t “Traditional University” and “constantly changing color schemes to bleed a turnip for merch purposes” mutually exclusive?

Apologies to @Shirtman :sunglasses:
