Didn’t want to X post on two threads, so figured this thread would be used when new Golf Coaches are announced.
Rachel Pollock, from ULM, taking over as Women’s Head Coach. Seems like a pretty good hire and some pretty good success at ULM winning some conference championships. Hoping she connects and we’re able to retain a few of the girls. Portal is currently open and none have announced they are transferring…yet.
Pollock is the name that came up in the 5-6 conversations I had about this job. Even Lydia Lasprilla suggested her.
On the final day of regionals, she had ULM in position to advance to nationals. That just doesn’t happen. She has the skills to make it work at UH (recruiting internationally, fundraising, young enough to connect with players).
Yep - she has a great resume and has built a solid program with limited resources at ULM. I think it’s a great hire. I hope she continues to recruit some local/state players.
Now, he just needs to nail the golf one. I thought Matt Fast might be interested after he turned down the ACU job, but he just got promoted at A&M and we likely aren’t paying what he’s now getting.
Pretty shocking to me. Wasn’t expecting our only local player to bolt for the ponies. Heard some rumblings on what SMU offered her in NIL and don’t think we matched.
Definitely a step up for both coaches. Now we need the University and Athletic Department to step up and provide the necessary support for both programs to be competitive.
