New HC and A.D. needed

Dictated by the small12 snub or orchestrated cy th?
I now think this was a combination of the two. As soon as we got snubbed the entire air went out of our balloon. Last season we had issues against Connecticut. Maybe these came up after we all heard about S Carolina sniffing at th? We will never know but we now you have to believe that this was true. It is very easy to compare the before and after the announcement. As soon as the small12 not expanded leaks started coming. Our entire Team started playing badly. We were flat on both offense and defense. That is never a coincidence. You can have a bad game but not multiple bad quarters. When we lost these two games I honestly thought that something was up. Some will/did point out at our depth. I no longer believe it as an excuse.

Remember the big payout if we get to a P5? His agent was always trying to get him to a higher paying job. They both profit from it. We can’t blame form it. As soon as we heard the non-invitation th was on his way out. There must have been some very high level discussions between the uta alum donors and th agent. Clearly Fenves was not on board with th coming. Thus the LSU leak orchestrated by th agent. I have no doubt it came from him. The last few losses sealed Strong faith. The Alum donors dictate the Coaching staff. This is true at every FBS Div. I program…ours included.
You doubt it? So, suddenly, in one week we go from sacking a Heisman candidate eleven times to no defense? The Louisville win tipped the scale for the uta doubters. Again, in the last 24 hours that leak was timely orchestrated. They were using LSU as “Fenves get up your fat ass and start doing your job”
Nothing against Memphis they are a good Team but everyone watching or in the stands could see that our Team was not ready to play. We were flatly embarrassed. Right before the game th nervously winking when asked about his future told me he was lying. I did not want to believe it but unfortunately my bad feeling/intuition was true.

Regarding the actual game, I am convinced that the seniors like Ward Jr took it upon themselves to raise to the occasion. Give back to U of H that is. Ward Jr put his body on the line multiple times. I have the upmost respect for him. He played with a purpose that was admirable.
Just like scumlin I feel horrible for every member of our Team. The problem here is that th has established a major network in OUR f@cking back yard. This will have major consequences for our present and future recruiting. In two years, he build/rebuild an entire network that will bear major rewards for uta. We kept hearing that he was fully committed to us and that he could win a National Championship with us even in a G5. We now know that he was lying to every single one of us. As soon as the small12 denied us again he was gone. Should we blame him, hate him? Again, we all have the answer.

Now there is one goal that our leaders must have. Do everything possible to get us to a P5. IT HAS BEEN OUR GOAL but I am not convinced that Yurachek can get us there. We need to align ourselves with a connection that will get us there. Mr. Fertitta is not enough. We need an A.D. capable of selling U of H to the PAC12, BIG10 or ACC. By the way this is HIS JOB. We will get another Coach in a few weeks or days but winning a Peach Bowl should not be our goal.

Sorry for the long rant.

Realistically, Yurachek likely has little to do with whether or not we get into a P5. That’s mostly a decision made at the presidential level.

In the real world if your employee is interviewing for another job, you get rid of him immediately. Only problem here is that we weren’t ready with a replacement at the same time

I don’t see the positives since he was named A.D. We should took a look at what really happened in the last 24 months. Was there anything else that we could have done differently. Why by all accounts were we the front runner and failed? Leaders make hard decisions. I am sure Mr. Fertitta is looking at what/why it happened. You succeed when you are able to delegate.
I found it hard to believe that Mr. Yuracheck had no clue that th was “sleeping elsewhere”? Call me crude but I do not buy it for a second.

YIKES!!!

Paragraph breaks … PLEASE … especially after having to read GWTW part deux again

Remind me never to come work for you.

Sorry, you wore me out about half way through that tome. But to imply that HY bears responsibility for not getting past that Big 12 firewall is ridiculous. Clearly that falls entirely on the University of Texas. They figured out if UH was blocked from membership that CTH would be on the market.

And Herman’s a liar if he denies this. CTH had his agent working behind the scene to put his name in play knowing Strong would be gone. Moreover, CTH played LSU to move the process along. He did all this with a straight face which says all I need to know about the man’s lack of character.

Bottom line, no AD could have done anything more to support his program. Guess you believe BYU and Cincinnati should run off their ADs as well? Face it. We were all conned by the Big 12, controlled by the Puppet Masters in Austin. And they are the ones CTH has moved in with.

What has Mr. Yuracheck brought to our program? We have had two major setbacks in a few months. I am very harsh but the question has to be asked. Can we do better? You do not like the question? No worries.

I like Hunter. He was able to push through a lot of facilities and he seems to hold staff accountable (softball, soccer). He’s also much more open than his predecessor was.

I think Hunter knew; he tried his best but if the man wants to go, there’s not much you can do about it. It is a business to these coaches after all.

Careful about imputing motives to me. It is not that I don’t “like” the question. It’s that I don’t agree with your conclusion. It’s really easy to start slinging blame but I trust Khator’s judgement.

What more would you have him do? Give me your magic solution. The guy brought Herman in and that put UH back on the national map. Can’t blame HY if Herman was having his agent working 24/7 to move up the coaching ladder. In the end Herman played us just like Sumlin did. Neither one has a drop of integrity as far as I am concerned. Herman is just smoother. That’s not HY’s fault.

I saw this last year with the South Carolina fiasco. I lived in Columbia, SC and have a number of connections there. They were calling me before the news broke. We lost the UCONN game because Herman Was seeing SEC stars in his eyes. It was Sumlin redux. We lost that game because Herman was totally distracted. Don’t believe anything else.

I too “smelled” a rat with S Carolina and I refused to believe it. It turns out it was 100% true. Great that you have connections at SC to actually confirmed it. I would hope that Hunter knew what was going on. Knowing that th was already looking elsewhere we had already LOST th. I believe th buyout is around $2.5M let’s hope we get every penny. I trust Mrs. Khator’s judgement but two major setbacks is a major concern. At least a major review is in order. We got to learn from these events and find out what could have been done differently. You tell me that you are 100% confident that will be part of a P5 in the coming months? I will change my tune immediately. Right now I am not confident at all. I am confident that Mr. Fertitta will learn from this. Again, our goal is a P5 invite. Everything will fall into place AFTER it happens.

Yes, that SC thing was almost funny. Out of the blue I get a call from a friend in Columbia. He’s a big time banker and major donor to the SC program. He totally knows what is going on in the program. I answer the phone and he’s apologizing before I could get a word out. We talk and as soon as I hang up this other guy is calling to apologize. It was surrealistic. Both thought the deal was nailed down with Herman’s agent. Can’t repeat what they said when Herman turned it down. Bottom line, Herman better never set foot in South Carolina.

This entire deal sucks. If we want our coaches to stay we have to get into a P5 conference. But in order to do that we need fan support, IE season tickets in both football and hoops. But why are people going to that commitment if the head coach continues to leave? Mr. Egg, meet Mr. Chicken. Unbelievable.

Apparently, he did the same thing to lsu just a day or so ago.

This guy is a professional liar!

That is why this question has to be asked. As painful as it may be Hunter had to know this was coming.

Even if he knew what could he do about it? Confront Herman? You don’t think he did? What was he supposed to do? Outwardly start recruiting another HC before the Navy game? I’m surprised Orlando is interested in the job. Suggests that maybe TO didn’t know either, since Herman reportedly offering Dave Aranda, his college roommate the DC job? Wouldn’t surprise me. And taking Allen. Just like Briles with RGIII! Sucker punched again!

Our solution: P5. In the interim, he left us a solid base from which to build. Let’s hope our next coach can hold on to our recruits. Continue building season ticket sales. We will survive.

So I ask you this. How long and how often are we going to take this abuse? So far I am counting three of our last four Coaches that have used us as a springboard. There is absolutely no reason why this should stop.
So far I have no seen any reports that uta will pay the $2.5M buy out clause. Let’s find out that they do. It is ironic but the espns of the world are fast to report new hires but they never talk about the "other side"
As far as th he went to our historical enemy. Rhoades and Hunter knew his past when they hired him. Hindsight 20/20 this was bound to happen. This was going to be his destination. Our A.D.'s should know our history too and what it means to many of us. uta was so eager to want us in the small12 a few months ago. Have you noticed how quiet they have been since. Do you really think now that they are going to lift one finger to get us in the same conference?
We have no idea right now how many players will transfer. History does not bode well for us. As stated earlier our recruiting is going to suffer greatly. In the immediate term Orlando might be the best option for us and please no mention of applewhite. Everything orange repulses me.
Heck bring back Mr. Jenkins and lets start the fireworks. Call it “Back to the Future” and throw some Jason Phillips in there. They won’t want to leave.
I am furious that we let ourselves thinking that we could believe th. I sure hope that many parents will think twice about letting him past the front door.

Answer to your opening question: until we get into a P5 conference. Period. Full Stop.

We made a critical mistake hiring th. His ties to uta was the answer to his successes. I would have been fine if he had left to South Carolina last year. In retrospect this would have been a lot less damaging.
Again, nothing happened after he talked to them. You work for a company and they find out that you talked to the competition about a job? YOU ARE FIRED.
