Maybe I don’t get out often enough, but I envision a park with some streetlights. This enormous structure will generate enough power to run, what, a few dozen halogen lamps?
Did you read it ?
generate 400,000 kilowatt-hours of clean solar energy annually – enough to fully power the park.
Halogen lamps are inefficient and being phased out is my understanding.
As of September 2021, halogen spotlight bulbs have been phased out in favour of more energy-efficient lighting options like LEDs (Energy Saving Trust). However, if you still have halogen bulbs in your home, don’t worry – you can continue using them until they burn out .
Mason Park is a pretty cool park in the East End, heavily used.
It’s 104 acres, includes a community center building, a public pool, and multiple baseball and soccer fields. The park flanks both sides of Brays Bayou just before it enters the Ship Channel.
Point being, it’s definitely more than a handful of streetlights.
Also… I’ll believe this project when I see it. Unless it’s privately funded, because I don’t trust the City to build it.
