But the Sooners fell past us, so we should have gone up 1. Us and TT are the only ones who had one or both of the OU plummets go past and not move an inch.

I never used the word “immediately”.
Oregon lost to a team that got beat by Tulsa.
Oklahoma lost to a team that was outplayed (should have lost) to Western Michigan.
The power rankings “should” put UH higher (or at least closer) to Oregon and Oklahoma… but they won’t because teams get punished for playing a weak team, no matter how much you beat them by.

Houston is wayyyy down in the power rankings, likely because of their opponent, but Miami stays at #5 despite playing an equally bad team.
The worst part is, they have Ohio State at #1, despite losing to Texas, who they have at #2.
Someone remind me never to mention “power rankings” again.

FPI is an efficiency metric. Not a power ranking. Not saying it’s particularly good one but for what it’s worth we actually moved up about 6 spots from blowing out Southern. If you want to see the Coogs move up in it we’re going to need to win convincingly week to week. Last year our FPI was worse than our SOR (#50 vs #24) which is a resume metric, because we played so many 1 possession games. Personally I care more about just winning but for things like this style points matter.
