On the stats sheet under the Blocks tab there are 2 columns BS and BA. What do they stand for, I always thought a block is a block.
Blocked Shots? Blocked Attempts?
I donât understand, arenât all blocked shots blocked attempts to make a basket? How can you have a block on a non shot?
Blocked shots
Blocked against (how many times the player got blocked)
I may be dense, but arenât all of our blocked shots against the other team? I doubt any team ties to block their own teams shots. Can I get something better than a two word response because Iâm confused and if I have to I will throw down the Old Guy card.
All of KUâs blocked shots were BA and I know they blocked at least one of our shots.
Players from the other team can also block our players shots. Showing âBlocks Against (BA)â breaks down who was getting blocked on the team.
Tugler can have 5 BS and 1 BA, meaning he blocked 5 shots, but he also had 1 field goal attempt of his blocked as well.
I went to Google and got this explanation which matches coogiehowser:
BLK or BS (Blocked Shots)
Players get a blocked shot for clearly rejecting or deflecting a legitimate field goal attempt. This counts as a block even if the defensive team does not recover the ball. NBA box scores include a stat for âBAâ which stands for âblock againstâ meaning how many of that playerâs shots were blocked.
But I swear I saw at least on of our shots blocked.
im just going to sit back and wait for someone to confirm which is the answer lol
This is not a great example because Kansas didnât block any of our shots so you canât see it from the other side, but look at Tugler having 5 Blocked Shots (BS) and then look at the Kansas player Blocked Against (BA) column and you will see the breakdown of who Tugler blocked.
Letâs not over complicate things.
Better Example, BAâs for Houston equal the BSâs of Utah. Mylik was the one Houston player that got blocked in the game.
Maybe I will have to rewatch the game again to see if I was dreaming when I thought I saw one of our shots get blocked. I rewatched the game already and we won again, but I wasnât tensed up like watching it live. Oh, and we won again. ![]()
Blocked attempts was the funniest attempt of an answer.
Bachelor of Science vs Bachelor of Arts
I still got tense rewatching OT even knowing the outcome haha
Just to finish on the BS/BA stuff, itâs similar to the Fouls Column that breaks down Personal Fouls and Fouls Drawn. Jâwan did a good job of only getting 4 Fouls called on him, but drew 8 fouls against KU. They could probably do something with the steals column as well, where they showed not only how many steals a player had, but how many times they had gotten the ball stolen away from them.
Versus Utah, Tugler played less than Ced Lath.
âAkeemâ. Shots Altered by Block Attempt.
Cheezz, are they trying to turn BB stats into baseball crazy?
Block Assists?
