My BA was at COT in Civil Engineering Technology / Construction Management. I specifically wanted a degree in construction management for new home building. I was never interested in being a civil engineer.
A simplified explanation in the difference was I took most of the civil engineering courses in the first 3 years. We did not go into the 4th year engineering classes. More about management, technical writing, specification, materials testing, job site safety, etc.
That poor man’s degree took me to being division president for the 28th largest home builder in the nation and 15 yrs as owner of my own new home building company building houses as much as $7 mil.
I love COT for what it gave me in a career. I wish it could stay on main campus but will defer to the powers that are planning UH’s future success.
Mack hired Head Football coach Dave Aranda in 2020 and may be replacing him after this season. Baylor’s football NIL lags way behind its basketball NIL, but that has more to do with Dave Aranda vs Scott Drew than Mack Rhodes.
My question to UH Administration is “Is Mack Rhodes the best you can do?”
I rather the new AD shift the focus to get local businesses and corporations investing into NIL rather than fundraising from the existing donors who are stretched thin for both football and basketball.
Believe me, the donors who are always getting called upon would welcome some new money getting in the pipeline. It gets annoying to them and uncomfortable for UH to keep asking.
