New UH Athletic Director, the search goes on

My BA was at COT in Civil Engineering Technology / Construction Management. I specifically wanted a degree in construction management for new home building. I was never interested in being a civil engineer.

A simplified explanation in the difference was I took most of the civil engineering courses in the first 3 years. We did not go into the 4th year engineering classes. More about management, technical writing, specification, materials testing, job site safety, etc.

That poor man’s degree took me to being division president for the 28th largest home builder in the nation and 15 yrs as owner of my own new home building company building houses as much as $7 mil.

I love COT for what it gave me in a career. I wish it could stay on main campus but will defer to the powers that are planning UH’s future success.

There is a huge portion of West Houston that doesn’t want to study at the home campus….do I need to list why?

Probably the guy from Mississippi state

It’s Mack 2nd time around, why it’s taking so long?

On a scale of wow to ya woo?

MR would be a good hire if we can bring him back.

He hired CTH and CKS plus a bunch of facility upgrades and won a natty at Baylor…his resume speaks for itself.

He has a higher NIL/marketing ceiling in Houston than Waco!

Because Mack has demonstrated that he is no friend of the University of Houston since he left us.

Mack hired Head Football coach Dave Aranda in 2020 and may be replacing him after this season. Baylor’s football NIL lags way behind its basketball NIL, but that has more to do with Dave Aranda vs Scott Drew than Mack Rhodes.

My question to UH Administration is “Is Mack Rhodes the best you can do?”

I can guarantee that won’t happen.

Which? Many on their staff have extensive fundraising experience.

I rather the new AD shift the focus to get local businesses and corporations investing into NIL rather than fundraising from the existing donors who are stretched thin for both football and basketball.

Believe me, the donors who are always getting called upon would welcome some new money getting in the pipeline. It gets annoying to them and uncomfortable for UH to keep asking.

Have we contacted Taylor Swift?

Seriously?

Her mom is a UH Alum and Taylor is worth more than a Billion dollars.

How hard would it be to convince her to donate something, anything, to her mother’s alma mater?

I would!

What makes you think she cares about UH just because her mom went here? I’m not donating to Abilene Christian University any time soon.

because she’s a billionaire and gives a lot of money away.

Most people in her situation give away MORE money as they get older, not less.

Roy Cullen had no reason to give money to UH but he was super rich.

plus, she doesn’t have an alma mater so she doesn’t have her own college to donate to.

if you were a billionaire, i imagine you’d have ACU higher ranked as a possible donation destination than a school you had zero ties to

Yeah… I have to admit… if I was a billionaire I’d probably chip off a little to Washtenaw Community College

Yeah maybe. Is her mom an active alum? If she doesn’t care it’s probably moot anyway

I’d throw Wharton County Junior College a bone or two for sure.
