Lisa Campos (that is who I assume he means) is at UTSA.
I think Dickey is the target though. Just a matter of compensation.

There is a new frontier but we won’t hire them as a whole - folks that have worked with less and told to produce where UH is a gold mine to them
Power 5 folks tend to hire only other Power 5 folks but that’s where you get a bad balance as a lot of them haven’t seen much when it comes to grassroots initiatives
I hope we’ve at least reached out to Jeff and Reid Ryan and a few other outsude the box non NCAA options.
BY was an outside the box non NCAA hire and because of that the Big 12 has a surplus of creative innovative ideas

I agree. Sampson obviously recognizes the importance of this hire and is also suggesting that the changing environment requires people with a different mindset and skill set. Dickey has been successful at Boise State but he has not had to compete with professional teams and entertainment venues the like that you have to compete against in Houston.

Right. This is now the big time and requires a different mindset if we are to compete on an equal level. --and i’m not real sure about retreads.

Retreads is normally used to define someone that had success but was fired later. We aren’t interviewing anyone like that from what I’ve seen. We are interviewing people that have had success and are looking to move up.

May want to look at JD Wicker of San Diego State as well.
Reid Ryan would actually be a very interesting choice and one I would support. He’s a great public face and he’s got name recognition. Not sure of his money-raising ability. Luhnow can kick rocks.

How about someone who is CURRENTLY selling >$100M/yr in sports sponsorships to HOUSTON businesses?
Imagine the contacts that person would have when they walked in the door!!
