Over the last few years, I’ve become a fan of Auburn
Because I feel like they’re similar to UH in some respects (university named after a city/town, Bama gets all the attention like UT/A&M, has the potential for greatness)
I feel like Auburn is a school that doesn’t have a stereotype in the SEC
P4: Illinois (Master’s degree)
G6: Central Michigan (Master’s degree)
I-FCS: Lamar (undergrad of both my parents)
D3: Case Western Reserve U. (my own undergrad)
Mine is basically the fans that have been nicest in my travels…
SEC:
I really like Arkansas. I think they’ve had the best/nicest fans of anywhere I’ve been.
Big ten: I guess USC fans were nice? I’m generally anti SEC and big ten out of principle.
ACC: Georgia tech fans have been great, home and away. SMU fans might be honorable mention, but that’s because boulevarding is unique. In Stadium, not counting students, byu fans might have out numbered them.
Big 12: everyone but Utah. Houston and Iowa state in particular. ASU also sucks, but I’ll cheer for them ooc. Kansas has incredible football fans.
USL (really dislike the rebrand to ULALA) - mom graduated from there + Quannas
McNeese- many family members went there
Tulsa - my grandfather got his undergrad and law degrees there + he played football with a leather helmet
Auburn - my good friend Jays parents who drug me to church and changed my life as a 9 year old were Auburn grads. Always knew when Auburn had won their football game as the dad would yell war eagle when they picked me up Sunday morning.
NM A&M (now State) where dad played basketball as a freshman before getting yanked out by Truman for the Korean War
I did a semester at Sam so I will root for them any time they don’t play us. My issue is I have a problem rooting for anyone that is actually good. I jump right off as soon as the bandwagon gets going.
I record as many as 8 games in a week. Since they are recorded, I can skip commercials and halftimes. Rarely watch Big 10 games but lots of SEC and Big 12
