Alright, I’m making guesses on where we stand with guys that visited based off what I’ve seen and what’s on 247/twitter:
DE Josh Allen - Think he wants to come to Houston. We need line depth for next year and Allen could step in and provide that immediately
OL Demetris Harris - Kid looked like he had a blast over the weekend and I think he’s seriously considering coming to Houston. Won’t decide until Wednesday morning so it’s a toss up.
CB DJ Small - I think this will be a done deal, probably Monday. Kid has no stars, but has only played football for one year and was all-district. Project, but could be special.
WR: Terry Wright - I think he’s probably coming to Houston. Would have 2 years remaining.
WR Tre’von Bradley - Kid’s currently probably around 50/50 to come here or to honor his commitment to North Texas.
CB Langston Frederick - 247 has us in the lead for him, but no real info on him on where he’s going. Seemed to like that he was trending after being offered by UH last week.
CB John Davis - Heard some rumors that we may be in the mix for the Texas Tech commit (might have even been in this past week for his visit, not three weeks ago like I thought).
CB Amik Robertson - He’ll be announcing probably Monday and it’s down to 5 schools: La Tech, KState, Texas, LSU, and Houston. I think he goes LSU or Texas or possibly La Tech, but you never know.
CB LaMarque Davis - I don’t think we ever offered even though he came in for a visit a few weeks ago. I think he’d come in a heart beat if we did offer, but we may be going in a different direction based on the CBs up above. He’s Anenih’s friend which may be why we were talking to him.
DE/LB David Anenih - No idea as he’s kept it close to the vest. Houston is in the picture though.
DT Morris Joseph Jr - I think he’s going to UTSA. Posted a pic on twitter in full UTSA gear late Sunday night. He’d be waiting awhile at UH while he’d play sooner there. Good on him for committing so early and sticking with it.
Additionally: OL Sam Cosmi: Know he was in Austin this past weekend, but no idea which way he’s leaning. I’d say he’s probably 50/50 to come to Houston at this point
CMA said we had 22 scholarships available and that we would probably not fill them all to keep room for transfers. We’ve got 1 signee and 14 commits counting Cosmi according to 247 (minus Joe Anderson). If CMA was on target about how many we sign, we’ll probably only sign 3-5 of the above. Personally, I’m hoping we sign at least 2 of the CBs.
Juco Wrs always seem to have a seamless transition to division 1. Even the SEC schools do this, a lot with success.
