The coaches call the pitches. Not on him. They wear a device in their hat that tells them what to throw.
I tried to help a fellow COOG out. Some are just stubborn that way but I get an A for effort.

So MLB All-Stars are calling this a great hire, and others on this board are calling it a horrible hire.
Who should we believe?
If they don’t know our university, program or conference, then their opinions are no better than anyone else’s. I’m sure there would have been several of Allen’s players saying the same thing. So what.

As a head coach, none.
But he may have received coaching from him at LSU.
Yet another la st seal of approval. I already know they are excited about the la st takeover of Houston Cougar baseball. I’ve yet to see an endorsement from anyone who actually gives a rat’s ass about anything UH.

I’ve been done being pissed about the hire for the last week.
I’m hoping he can get it done….but I couldn’t give a sh-t about random players or coaches saying this or that about him.
There are several guys that played with Sean and played for Sean that think Houston missed out on turning the program around, and turning it around quickly.
There are other Showcase coaches that are shocked that Sean was not the guy.
So Law, do you care anything about those opinions? And these are guys that are dialed in to what it takes to build a program right here in the state of Texas.

That whole schtick is just stupid. He has the job, and whether he’s good, bad, or painfully mediocre will reveal itself soon enough.
Posting opinions from people glazing him doesn’t prove anything except that people feel insecure about the hire and think they can convince the world that he’s awesome by regurgitating Twitter takes from other people that don’t matter.
What does matter is the roster he puts together this year and what he does with it.

None of us feel “insecure” about the hire.
Not terribly excited by it, but willing to keep an open mind and give him the same two years we gave Fritz and Sampson to see improvement.
Some of us don’t understand why some people here are so put out with this hire.
And even worse….
Why people are expecting first year improvement that is pretty much never expected in any new coach hire during a rebuild, was not seen by either Samson or Fritz in their first years (which did NOT mean that we had made the wrong hire or a bad hire), and which wasn’t seen in either of our last two baseball HC hires.
As for posting the opinions of prominent baseball names saying this was a good hire, the only reason anyone would be bothered by that, is if they are somehow insecure about their own negative opinion concerning this hire, and don’t like seeing an opposing viewpoint by someone that both knows the new coach and knows the game.
Ever thought of that?
In two years, if he fails to show improvement, then maybe we’ll judge the hire as a bad one, and move on at that point.
In the end, as dead as this program is, you can’t expect anyone to miraculously raise the dead overnight.
It should be better next year….maybe not regional better but it should be better.
The coaches you referenced in other threads were from other sports….ive told you multiple times baseball recruiting is different than football and basketball.
Also, you were talking about new coaches in “pre-portal” years.
If you can’t see that I don’t know what to say……not going to debate you because it does no good.
