Yep that was a great story. Wanting him to do well. Time will tell.
What can you not grasp about improvement in Year 1 ? NO ONE is expecting to go to The Dance next year NO ONE. You seem to be stuck on the W/L record only for 2027. There’s much more than that will define improvement.

If we don’t improve on a last-place finish in a mediocre conference, then we made a bad hire. Getting into the B12 tournament should not be a stretch goal.

I didn’t see improvement in years one of Sampson or Fritz; we were worse in year one under both than the year prior, so I see no reason to hold Davis to a different standard.
Greater suckiness in year one than the year prior wasn’t a sign of a bad hire or the wrong hire in either of their cases, so it’s stupid to say that it would or should be such a sign in Davis’ case.
Same standard should apply.
Year TWO will tell the tale, as it did for Sampson and Fritz.
EVERY new coach gets ONE “freebie” sucky first season. After year TWO, we will assess.
Which means, even if we suck worse next year under Davis than in the previous season under CTW, it won’t be a sign of a bad hire, nor will it be a sign that we hired the wrong guy.
If we still suck after year two, THEN it would be a bad sign.
