OMG! I hadn’t heard this until now! What tragedy for a great Coog

I read online that Ed Oliver has missed a big chunk of camp due to the recent death of his two year old son from drowning.

Please pray.

I do believe they were fake rumors circulating around social media.

Edit. Since this is real. This is so sad to hear. I have a 23 month year old myself. I cant image the grief he is dealing with.

Oh my horrible how do u ever move past something like that, heartbroken for him

I sure hope that that’s the case, but it’s quickly going viral.

The Houston Chronicle is now reporting this.

Apparently it is true.

RIP

That is a horrible tragedy. Losing a child is every parent’s worst nightmare. My prayers will include the family today. I couldn’t get past the Barnacle paywall, so I checked Buffalo reports and they reported it happened in late June, is that correct?

I’m sorry this pisses me off more than i feel sorry for someone. You hear too many times about babie’s deathes because of some adults incompetence. there is no reason for a baby to drown in a pool or die in a car. I dont know who is at fault but whomever needs to be prosecuted.

I cannot even bear to imagine how he must feel. I have three children myself and the thought of any of them departing this world before me brings tears to my eyes.

Prayers to him and his family.

Our daughters are all grown and I can’t bear the thought of them passing before me let alone when they are a toddler. Now, we have young grandchildren and I feel the same way about them as I do our own children when they were young.

Oh no. What a nightmare

If the person most at fault is a parent of the deceased. ‘And’ it was more of an accident rather than obvious neglect, then I think the loss of their child is punishment enough.

The parents who forget to drop their kid off at daycare and then go to work while their child dies in their car seat in the heat is this type of tragedy. Yes, they are responsible. Yes they should have taken better precaution to avoid this. Yes they deserve punishment. But the death of their child is the greatest punishment

I have a boy that just turned 3. Had been sitting in the sand playing with him today at the beach for probably 20 mins straight and my 6 year old came up to me so I turned to talk to her for literally 20-30 seconds. I turn back around and my 3 year old was 30+ yards away running full speed away from me towards a playground (and luckily not the water). Kid just decided to get up and takeoff in a couple seconds. It can and does happen THAT fast at that age. 2-4 is extremely dangerous for behavior like that. Of course none of us knows what happened in detail other than it was a horrible tragedy. My wife and I could never have a pool at home with our young kids because you just never know. Prayers for Ed and his family.

When my daughter was two we were at a resort in the hill country with friends.

We were all hanging around the pool having fun. Four adults, none drinking, having fun with our and their kids. My daughter had just been in the pool with my wife and both were now out. Their kids and my son were running around playing and laughing. We got distracted just watching them, my daughter jumped back in the pool and immediately sucked water into her lungs. My wife jumped in and got her. She wasn’t in the pool or under water for more than 5 seconds. But once pulled out she spit up water and had some trouble breathing.

While she was breathing (and seemed ok) a few minutes later we took her to the emergency room for an examination. Dry drowning is a thing we had read about. We watched her in shifts all night that night. Everything turned out fine but the whole experience was terrifying.

Prayers for Ed, his son, and all.

Condolences to Ed and family.

I’m guessing you are not yet a parent.

No one here knows exactly what happened so we certainly should not jump to conclusions and pre-judgements. The only thing we know is that a young boy’s life is tragically gone and our thoughts should be with him and his family.

im not jumping to any conclusions. im just saying whomever was responsible for protecting the child while he was around a body of water needs to be held accountable. the 2 yr old boy couldnt protect himself. do i feel sympathy for the grieving family? yes i do but not as much as i do for the baby.

We implemented wet bulb because dozens of people have died of heat stroke in the last 25 years, a couple dozen people have died in dresser accidents in the last 25 years so we change the laws on dressers, hundreds of children drown in back yard pools every single year, they atleast need to push an awareness campaign.

I had a 2 year old step-second cousin drown in a backyard pool, they had not swam in months, but they had let the dog out and did not get the back door fully closed and the toddler opened the door and went out while she was preparing lunch, all it takes is a few minutes, and your instinct is to check all the normal hiding spots first and not assume the kid opened the back door.
