ONE OF THE BEST

THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL POST ON THE BEST
IN JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING. I PLAYED WITH A
PLAYER AT TOMBALL IN THE MED 50’S. HIS NAME
WAS GAYLE MCGINTY. ALL DIST FOOTBALL , ALL
DISTRICT BASKETBALL, WON STATE POLE VAULT
WITH BORROWED POLE. WENT OUT FOR F.B. AS
FRESHMAN AT 5FT 1 and 100 lbs. SOPH 5FT4 AND
127LBS. JR AT 5FT 7 AND 154 LBS. SR AT 5FT 8 &
160 LBS. NEVER SAW ANYONE STAY WITH HIM THE FIRST 20 YARDS. WENT TO BLINN AND UH
RECRUITED HIM WHILE I WAS PLAYING AT UH.
I WAS HIS GUIDE ON HIS VISIT. SHORTY AS WAS
KNOWN WAS A YEAR AHEAD OF ME. HE WENT
TO SAM WHERE HE WAS A LITTLE ALL AMER. IN
FOOTBALL. HE WAS THE FIRST RB THAT I EVER
SAW JUMP OVER A TACKLER. WAS NOT THE BEST
ATTITUDE BUT VERY OUTGOING HE WON STATE
IN POLE VAULT BUT DID NOT LETTER. GREAT ATH
AS I EVER SAW HAD 27 POINT AV. IN B.B.
