Opening Weekend Gameday experience

I have to say it was extremely disappointing. Schroeder park isn’t the greatest stadium but its a very solid park which is how it still gets the 2 stars, if i was grading it on just what this admin is responsible for it would get negative stars. Its like this admin is actively trying to make the baseball experience worse.

Concessions are absolute trash, bottom tier gas station hotdogs and getting rid of fountain drinks for bottles only

Can we not even get a fresh coat of paint? or flags and sunshades that aren’t faded out?

And a huge miss on not having any Bowl game gear available with the trophy display.

It really pisses me off because I’ve seen it when they had great game day experiences and then the admins just decide to stop doing it

My coworker went last night with her husband. He said he had been craving ballpark food. Man I am scared to ask how the food went. Just bring in a few food trucks if not a vendor and let them make bbq sandwiches with their grill or hamburgers. That right there takes almost no effort.

A couple years ago we had bbq nachos or pulled pork nachos sandwiches I can’t remember. They were good.

Stadium needs major upgrades across the board

I guess we are bottom of big 12 in that category also, worst stadium??

A new grandstand would be awesome.

The OP’s post doesn’t surprise me in the least. Every since we lost pitching Coach Anderson to Tennessee, it was the beginning of the slow downhill fall of the baseball program. The UH administration has shown absolutely no desire to salvage it much less improve it. It used to be so much fun to attend games 10 years ago. Past season ticket holders like myself have been waiting for Whitting’s replacement for 4 years now.

Nobody is paying for improvements until TW is gone….

With the right hire things can turn around in a minute.

Enjoyed the chance to kick back and watch a game, but have one problem - food. For protein, they only had beef brisket or beef hot dogs. A problem for those that do not eat beef. Now I have to plan meals before or after a game instead of just swinging by after work. This will cause me to miss a few more games than planned.

Otherwise enjoyed my seat. Parking will be easy when it does not collide with a basketball game (I assume that was the issue Saturday).

Back in the early 2000s we went to a game and my brother did a spin around the baseball bat then run the bases competition between innings.

This post was kinda funny…I think he was serious…

Well Sat/Sun were just as bad, and while paying more for tickets than i do for Football.
While it probably is the worst stadium in the conference, i think its structurally fine for the most part. I think they need to add concessions on the concourse at the open areas at the end of the 200’s seating and it needs a facelift really bad.

It used to be UH baseball was a fun weekend celebration.

Now, it about as enjoyable as getting waterboarded or having root canal without Novocain.

I remember we had the vendor who walked around the front yelling “Ice cold beer, get it while it’s hot!” Now we don’t have enough fans show-up to need that. It would be a waste of money.

Not a big deal.
Player facility is nice.
A pressure wash and paint.
Some carpentry and plastics replaced.

Not huge amounts of $ and it
would move it up.

Interesting to see the list….i have played in a ton of stadiums , coached in a lot of stadiums and watched my son play in a gazillion stadiums….TCU was by far the most “Unenjoyable” stadium I have been to in any capacity….

It is such a weird vibe to me….i don’t even
Know if I can put my finger on it….

We’ll be in Dallas for a wedding during the TCU series. We planned on going to a UH TCU baseball game while up there.

If you go then tell me what you think….maybe it’s just me.

I don’t think I had a bad experience or anything….we even won a pretty big tournament a few years ago by beating the 17U Mizuno USA elite team.

I’ll let you know. I have been to Rice, Houston Victoria, and UH baseball parks. That’s all as far as college level. I don’t have as much experience as I do with football and basketball venues.

Talked with a UTRGV alum who was here this weekend and went to the park for the first time - he said he was surprised on how empty and dead it was atmosphere wise

But I had to explain to him the dynamics of UH baseball of why it got to this

And thousands of people with free tickets walked right past the gates on their way out of the basketball game. Ouch.
