Sounds like my birth state of Louisiana, the southern half is more Cajun the farther south you go, the northern half is more Baptist bible belt types. I was born in Lake Charles and raised in Baton Rouge, both in the southern half.
Funny i was just explaining that to my dad the other night. One of my good friends is from New Orleans. He spent time up here for work (energy/ethanol), so he stayed with us a lot of the time and we enjoyed geeking out about stuff like that. He explained Louisiana the same way. @red80
Agreed - itâs like we traded up to draft a depth piece when we already have Sting and Lassiter.
Trust his eye for Dbs but the
OLs taken at 95. 98. 99 seem better.
Iâm surprised no IOL so far.
Still just a 5th and two 7th left ?
I have never seen Jaylin Smith play, but if I have to scroll down the CB draft prospects and go to page 2 to find him, me thinks he wonât be an instant starter.
3 sixes, 2 sevens left.
Not bad.
Thatâs handy if they want 2 move into 4th.
@red80 so Clinton, Fort Madison, Keokuk is more Mississippi valley mark twain Hannibal St Louis/Southern(ish) Illinois type culture.
Shenandoah is more Omaha NW missouri KC type culture.
Everything more or less directly north of Ames is more Minnesota upper upper awww shucks you betcha dontcha know type midwest culture. Southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa are basically the same place. But it gets slightly different the further west or east you go in Northern Iowa.
This is also where the best land is. And if you saw a modest hill, or any hills of an elevation change at all in Clinton or ShenandoahâŚthat doesnât exist up here. Flatter than flat in all directions from me. But our land is worth 3 to 5 times more and considerably more productive. The last glacial till event that brought the best top soil didnt reach down there, so it left it hillier and sandier than up here. Thanks for putting my kids thru college w/ your dirt tho, Canada!
But at the end of the day weâre all Iowans, so it doesnât even really matter all that much at the same time. It does, but it doesnât lol.
Sounds like Texans are pretty satisfied with their roster with the recurring downward moves.
Iâm with Pollard that Iâd love to have Scattebo, but he wonât last until the sixth.
FWIW, lot of ppl predicted Noel would go before Higgins based on how he tested and his long track record of health and production. His 40 was really good, but his bench, vertical, and broad jump was ELITE. Look that up too.
If Noel played for some1 like Michigan or Ohio State, heâd be a 1st round pick IMO. He was getting some late 1st round buzz at the end, but mostly an early to mid 2nd round grade. Fantastic value for the Texans.
My youngest daughterâs fiancĂŠ is from Middletown, IA. Not far from Fort Madison. Burlington is just a few miles away. Middletown has an armory which built components of the atomic bomb back in the day.
I like the draft. As much as I would love some OL there is just much greater value at WR.
We landed a tackle, two WRs and a CB that will be expected to contribute right away.
We needed to reshape the receiving room and have added three nice pieces.
We also needed a third CB and I think Smith is going to be that guy from the beginning.
TE still sucks but we did lose our best one early last season and hopefully the 2nd year player produces. Not a fan of Shultz who is just serviceable at his strength.
Yes OL is still a concern but there will be a new culture in the room, new leadership and some youth getting their shots.
Would be nice to land a FA OL even an overpay.
This is where the conference has to improve, especially UH. I know Fritz is going to start putting out pros again.
Hopefully, the Sanders family takes this whole draft debacle as a sign to reign in their arrogance.
Custom designed green room?
$$$ sign necklace that cost more than a house?
Nobody wants to deal with a narcissist of that levelâŚnobody!
Not worth the headache
cant say i remember seeing Jayden Higgins as i only watched two iowa sate games the past season but happy to see a big 12 guy go to the texans will probably watch more texans games with him and tank dell
Man Higgins and Noel are gonna be fun to watch. Wow! Caserio canât miss!
