Per ChatGPT:
Yes, your understanding is correct. ESPN is set to launch a new standalone streaming service, simply called ESPN, in early fall 2025. This service will provide comprehensive access to ESPNās content, including both its traditional cable channels and ESPN+. ļæ¼
Whatās Included
The service will offer two subscription tiers:
⢠ESPN Select: Priced at $11.99/month or $119/year, this tier includes all content currently available on ESPN+, such as exclusive live events, original programming, and on-demand content.
⢠ESPN Unlimited: At $29.99/month or $299.99/year, this premium tier provides access to:
⢠All ESPN linear channels: ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPNEWS, and ESPN Deportes
⢠ESPN on ABC broadcasts
⢠ESPN3, SEC Network+, and ACC Network Extra
⢠Over 47,000 live events annually, including major professional and college sports
⢠Studio shows, original programming, and on-demand replays
Pricing and Bundles
For the first year, Disney is offering a promotional bundle that includes ESPN Unlimited, Disney+, and Hulu for $29.99/month. After the first year, the bundle will be priced at $35.99/month. ļæ¼ ļæ¼
Access for Existing Pay TV Subscribers
Existing pay TV subscribers who have access to ESPNās linear channels will also receive access to the new ESPN streaming service at no additional cost. This move aims to ease the transition for current cable subscribers and mitigate concerns about cord-cutting. ļæ¼ ļæ¼
New Programming
As part of its expanded content offerings, ESPN has announced that āThe Rich Eisen Showā will move to the new streaming platform, airing weekdays from noon to 3 PM ET. This addition enhances the serviceās lineup of sports talk and analysis programming. ļæ¼
This new streaming service represents ESPNās most comprehensive direct-to-consumer offering to date, aiming to cater to both cord-cutters and traditional cable subscribers seeking flexible access to sports content. ļæ¼
That cost is prohibitive and completely inexcusable. They will have a rash of cancellations, people (like myself) will utilize āotherā online streaming sources", and they will cost themselves millions in the process.
Who on earth makes these decisions???
This is why we avoid streaming platforms as if it was he plague.
Show we can get āon cableā ratings and we will earn āon cableā Saturday time slots
Good.
With my expanded cable sports package, all that Iāll need is the $11.99 version for ESPN+
Did you all notice there is one missing chanel?
sec
acc
Both are on
big10 Chanel is somewhere else
Where is the BIG12 Chanel?
I just canceled mine this month.
Not even close to being worth it anymoreā¦.not at that price.
Oh wait.
I just saw at the bottom that if you already have access to linear channels through cable, then this steaming is available free of charge.
Good.
Now I might not even need ESPN+ any more. That might actually SAVE me a few bucks.
I guess I might still need ESPN+ for times when I might be out on Wifi somewhere and still stream a UH game via phone or tablet. But inside my house, looks like Iāll be able to use the app on my Apple TV box free of charge.

This is a new service not an espn+ increase. This gets you all of espn. Designed for folks who donāt have any type of cable.

IPtv + VPN + guest/restricted WiFi
You got me there. I completely misinterpreted that.
But, even still, it seems excessive.
I pay 75 for yourube so I can watch football on espn and then another 10 for espn plus sonic a watch the Coogs play football and ooc basketball. Now I can drop to just espn whatever and pay $40 a month. I have no use for YouTube outside of sports since there is nothing worth watching on tv anymore. I guess I miss out on Fox games?
You would miss all the games on the fox sports Network and I think some of our basketball games best year will be on CBS, TBS AND TNT.
For me ESPN+ is one of the best values out there, but I like lots of different sports and watch NHL, soccer, college baseball, basketball and football, along with PGA golf and auto racing- all on ESPN+. I might get rid of Sling and add ESPN unlimited, saving about $30 a month.
Once college basketball is over, I drop ESPN+.
Now that Fox is showing all the IndyCar practices, qualifying & races, I dropped Peacock.
There is just too much content available nowadays
Well, Iāve been using ESPN+ to watch UH baseball games.
There are a few useless months in the summer though.
Never got into college baseball.
I follow the spring bike races and the grand tours & IndyCar. When the Tour de France ends, then I begin to follow college football.
Me too, since almost all the Big 12 games are moving from ESPN+ to other networks.
