OT: Fertitta buys WNBA Team

Fertitta said that he wants constant events to fill the building throughout the year. That’s why he is doing this. I think it’s why he is trying to get an NHL team as well.

Pretty neat TF can drop $300 million like that on the sales price. Read he paid
$2.2 billion for the Rockets 9 years ago, also a record at the time. I wonder how the WNBA deal is actually financed. Probably not a cash transaction ??? Or
does he go to bank to get the loan backed by collateral in his company stock ?

Recent growth is astronomical, with average team values reaching $269 million in 2025, while the new expansion team, Golden State Valkyries, is valued at $500 million.

Other high-value, high-revenue teams include the New York Liberty ($400M–$450M) and Indiana Fever ($335M–$370M), the latter fueled by the “Caitlin Clark Effect”

Lol, exactly.

Tilman is all about combining operations, I could see him having 1 marketing team to run both teams, they will probably advertise together the way the Dynamo and the Dash do and to cap it off he will have to rent the facility from himself, he could lose money and still increase his overall profits.

Just saw this – great news. I still have my Comets t-shirt; now it’s no longer a dinosaur.

It sounds like there’s some legal wrangling to be done before the Comets can actually return.
