New unis are great, old unis are great…
I think the trim on the new unis looks better than the solid leg on the old unis…
Idk about that gladiator type v cut, though…

Yep. This would get my vote.
Apparently those weren’t an option; Mitchell & Ness has the right to the NBA’s Hardwood Classics program, which includes the stipulation that they only get included in the jersey lineup for one out of every five years. That basically means major anniversaries only.
It’s why a bunch of teams, including the Rockets, Timberwolves, and Magic are all doing “retro-inspired but not quite throwback” unis.
How do they not have the rights to their own jersey?
The NBA owns all rights to team branding.
Yes but is Mitchell and Ness part of the NBA?
No, but the NBA contracted with them for the licensing rights to throwbacks (“Hardwood Classics”) in general, which included that stipulation. It makes sense because if you’re Mitchell & Ness and you’re selling a Rockets throwback jersey for $300 you don’t want them switching back to the old uniform so you suddenly have to compete with a flood of Nike-manufactured jerseys in that design for half that price.
The M&N hardwood classic jerseys are nice!
How recently have you bought from them? I know they used to be really high-quality, but word has it they’ve gotten a lot worse since Fanatics, who ruins everything, bought them in 2022. Fanatics bought Ebbets Field Flannels around the same time and Ebbets immediately went way downhill.
At least Homefield Apparel is still kickin’.
I do not have the same reaction to the Houston Rockets uniform changes as I do when UH changes its uniforms. With the Rockets changes, its more of a laid back reaction. Change one thing on the UH uniform and “my temperature’s rising and my jukebox blows a fuse.”
Haven’t bought since before 2022…
Actually, I was wrong… my wife got me a blue cartoon rocket Olajuwon jersey 3 years ago and everything is iron on instead of stitched…
Still a nice jersey but not as nice as my other Olajuwon all-star hardwood classics jersey
I wish that they would have made the “Rockets” bigger. Same size as the script on their jerseys from this past season. I would prefer that they simplified the shorts a bit. They also kept R logo, unfortunately.
@Kyle_Be_Coogin Pretty sure some law must have been passed where Iowa State players are only allowed to play professional sports for Houston teams ![]()
