Baylor had a player hit 3 grand slams in one game yesterday. Made the front page of espn.

The Vaqueros are no joke.

I recall Pan American University always having strong squads back when I first started paying attention to college baseball in the late 60s.

Coach Ogletree had a good program down in the Valley…

You could make a good team just out of the local talent in and around Laredo……there are some really good ball players in the area.

yup…my friend’s nephew was a pitcher, first at TCU, transferred to UTRGV and was the winning pitcher against Texas a few years back…

In today’s college baseball world 1 good pitcher can beat you and the transfer portal helps that a lot for some schools.

Once they merged with another school, their enrollment hit 30,000 students which helps tremendously - plus they had some Strong investments from the UT system

But normally beating a Kansas isnt exactly earth shattering considering the northern teams start slow anyway and I’ve seen them lose consistently to teams in smaller leagues from the south just due to weather

Should be updated to note Kansas won the next two games and thus won the weekend series.

Should be a fun trip….hope you bring some luck this way.

Always fun getting back to HTOWN. We need a win against Arizona and baseball has been a good surprise to their start. Has the hitting been a surprise?

I don’t think they have hit anyone particularly hard….to me the pitching has been a surprise.

Other than Wake the other three teams are not good….lets see if they sweep UTRGV.

The Wake and BC games were what I was referencing where they put up 8 and then 5 runs to start the season. You can win a lot of games when you post 8.
