This is about NIL, not basketball, so I’m posting in this section
Miami was a Final Four team last year, and they have had 8 players transfer since then

What a puss.
I know what he said but at the end of the day he’s stepping down because of his age. There aren’t any 50 year old coaches resigning because of NIL. Dude’s just tired of having to adjust. Which is understandable but still.
Tony Bennett was 55 and that’s why he retired.
Fair enough. Still don’t think Larrañaga would’ve hung it up if he were 50.
He must have had a deal in place with Miami. Resign and avoid getting fired (doesn’t look good for any coach.)
But yes, NIL definitely played a role.
In the word of Holgy, “I can’t coach this sh**!”
Poor take. Just because someone doesn’t go against his principles and why he was a coach in the first place (many years ago) doesn’t makes him a puss.
3 of the 4 guys on his final four that scored 10+/game team transferred in. He didn’t hate all the transferring or NIL then.
Dude lost to Mt St Mary’s a few days ago and his seat is on fire. That’s why he resigned.
Dave Clawson too recently (Wake Forest football coach). He was 57 when he retired.
That Miami Final 4 team the 1st NIL hoop success of the era.
It made regular news not just sports. New Football Stadium, etc coming.
“two-year, $800,000 arrangement for men’s basketball star Nijel Pack”
Until…
New U of M on campus would be great still a fun venue.
What makes you think that? I don’t follow Miami.
They did go 15-17 last year and they’re off to a 4-8 start this year with ACC play looming. So probably looking at another losing season and possibly a disastrous sub 10 win season.
Maybe NIL is changing some kids’ coach-ability. I’m just throwing it out there.
His seat was warming.
I’d say Miami cut a deal with him: resign and we won’t fire you. They most likely want to go a different direction given the fact that he wasn’t big on NIL.
Mods pls move to hoops
Yeah! Get your butts over there so we can run wild on this thread.
Receive his millions on the back of his student athletes. Good for him. Soon as athletes start getting paid he bails. He obviously can’t adjust. Time to go.
His seat was warming, so he gave up his buyout. Makes sense
I hope the NCAA realizes that their inability or reluctance to control NIL and the Transfer Portal is driving very good coaches to leave the profession. The NCAA cannot ignore this fallout for their lack of effective action.
