OT: MLB hit king Pete Rose dead at 83

Time to let him into the HOF. The lifetime ban was fair but that’s over. JMO

Charlie Hustle was amazing to watch and one of a kind, even when was wreaking havoc on the base paths against the Astros.

He’s already in the HOF… the WWE HOF.

I actually saw him one day walking out of the Caesar’s Palace sports book. I was laughing too hard to stop and ask for an autograph.

He was one of my favorites growing up. We used to sneek from the pavilion in the dome to sit behind home plate. If you remember Petes Aqua Velva commercials in the 70s. We used to tease him that he snelled terrific.

Many players have had gambling problems, but gambling did not make him the hit leader. He should be in the HOF. He played the game hard, the Big Red machine tore up the Astros many times, and Charlie Hustle was main the reason.

Great player no doubt, but he cheated when he bet on baseball while managing the Reds.
Doubtful they are going to change the rules for him or anyone else.
Maybe he had an interpreter lol

Probably didn’t help his cause that he was notoriously known as a terrible person too

Don’t put him in as a manager, put him in as the hit leader.

This sucks! First Willie and now Pete.

Please let this man into the HoF. If you can let in Ty Cobb, then you can let him in.

The hammer came down on Rose because he gambled at the end of his career. If he was in his prime, mlb would have found a scapegoat like a personal assistant or some other acquaintance to pin the blame on. It also didn’t help that he never played a home game for a nyc or la team.

Pete Rose wasn’t at the end of his career. He was a manager and he bet on his team.

The gambling that was investigated took place from 1985-87. His last season as a player was 1986.

He started managing in 1984. My point is his the severity of his gambling was more about him being a manager vs a player. It’s pretty serious and had to be dealt with as such.

I don’t know that he would have been treated the same as just a player unless he was throwing games or something.

He broke THE Cardinal sin in baseball and then lied about for many years. THE rule is posted in every clubhouse and is mentioned every season to all players. Shoeless Joe has been banned for over 100 years and has never been cleared for the HOF and neither will Charle Hustle. Can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.
