Those charts have a column for race unknown. I’m not sure about the gender part.
Anyone have any updated photos of campus renovations? Should be getting near completion.
Construction cameras and HAIF are the best ways to keep up as far as I know.

It would be cool if they put a big fountain in the middle of that circular drive on university drive, similar to the Mecom Fountain at Herman Park, that lights up red for big wins.

One interesting thing on the Master Plan outlining the property line of the University, it shows owning Cullen street property from Braes bayou to 45 freeway, and other side of the RR tracks. Also owning the land up to the Wheeler Baptist Church. These must be all new acquisitions. The campus is a mess in construction right now but potentially could be great.
There is a report of the university expanding the Moody Towers to a third tower however it is April 1 so I’m a little skeptical. Lol.

Ideally, it would be cool if UH fraternities and sororities had the means/funds/donors to turn the circled area into a Greek Row Housing
Doesn’t need to be SEC-style mansions, but perhaps big enough to support social/rush events
McGregor is a lost cause to host Greek organizations.

It does not show they own the church, but right up to it. They did have Greek houses on Cullen at one time did they not? The property closer to MacGregor would still be an option. Did not know they acquired all that land. With the RR tracks, freeway, Third Ward and bayou, as borders, they have pretty much maxed out that land.

There used to be a few on MacGregor, but they appear to be gone now.
Likewise, there used to be a few (DU, Sigma Nu) on Calhoun, but they are no longer on campus either.
There are some dorms on Calhoun occupied by Greek Orgs, but that’s not the same.
UH really needs a bona fide Greek row.

From what I was told (not confirmed), the McGregor community no longer wanted fraternities there.
There was a standalone mansion on Calhoun that was once owned by Sigma Nu, but it was then sold to Sigma Chi. However, Sigma Chi got kicked off for hazing (had a friend in their pledge class the year they were kicked off), and none of the existing fraternities had the funds to keep the mansion. There also was just a general lack of support for Greek Orgs by the university at the time. The mansion itself was in terrible condition. I went to a few of the parties there, and it was just bad…
Delta Upsilon didn’t have any housing on Calhoun to my knowledge. They had an old, shack-looking house on OST. Not sure if it’s still there or not, but it was really small.
Currently, the main Greek Housing (if not the only) is Bayou Oaks, which is a cool concept but they apartments are shared with non-Greeks which defeats the purpose. They are also quite small and terrible for parties.
The only option for Greek Housing is to essentially price out anyone that lives in the southwest portion of the campus, preferably in land owned by UH, but then designate that area for Greek-funded Housing.
The issue really is funding. The organizations need donors willing to help pay for housing, but unfortunately that just doesn’t exist.

that’s church property - realistically the area by McDonalds
Chances are, the churches will be unable to afford the land as the price of said land continues to increase in that area
If that day (when that day) comes, then it would be wise for UH purchase the land and then lease it for Greek Housing.
Perhaps private equity could help fraternities get funding set up to build houses, but that would be a gigantic risk.

I’m guessing that he means the neighborhood south of Blodgett.
I think a better area would be to develop the neighborhood north of the baseball/softball stadiums.

that’s what I said also - it’s half gone anyway or repurpose the fields off cullen and I-45 and move stuff there
Or a triumphant arch, where we could march the team through when they win a championship. Plus light it red.
