They voted to not spend student money on it, so the school figured out another way. The students don’t decide how facilities are managed and/or upgraded, though.
When I was a student at SHSU the place was a ghost town on weekends. Everyone went back to Spring or Houston.
Yes. I’m pretty sure UTSA students did the same for upgrading their basketball arena and baseball stadium.
Glad our students at UH voted differently on our football stadium back in the day!

Almost immediately after UH, UC, and UCF were invited to the Big XII, USF announced they were building a new on-campus football stadium and doing a major upgrade to all on-campus sports facilities.
Later, the City of Memphis gave the university the title to the Liberty Bowl. I guess it’s their version of Rice Stadium.
The rule was abolished in the fall of 2023.
So Sam Houston no longer has to play at NRG to get the extra tickets/butts in seats to qualify for the 15k requirement.

Good, I’ve been wanting to go see them play as two of my sons are current students there.
good for them, ialways liked the shsu campus its nice and hilly and huntsville gets the northern winds so its little cooler than houston imo, gulf of mexico winds seems to not be able to push uphill.
