Anyone who watched a UFL game could see the league was circling the porcelain.
It all started going downhill for Houston when they moved the Roughnecks along with Coach Wade Philips and the team that won its division in 2023 to San Antonio to become the Brahmas in 2024 and we got stuck with the crappy imposter Roughnecks/ Gamblers from the USFL and predictably attendance plummeted at TDECU and Shell. Ironically, they moved the Brahmas to Orlando because they felt the Alamo Dome was too big when they previously had an more intimate stadium at TDECU.

The team was circling the drain a year ago before they even played at Shell Energy; they were supposed to relocate last year and wound up changing all their branding (the one thing the fans weren’t upset about!) and putting it off a year.
