I don’t know how you can do this without making a bunch of people unhappy.
If we hadn’t done this when FC opened, I could see our AD doing the same thing. Linking up NIL contributions with priority points makes sense, but we haven’t taken that step yet.
If NIL contributions become a factor regarding my seats that I’ve had since the stadium opened, I’ll never attend a UH athletic event again.
Just make the seats more expensive if thats what they want to do.
That be an easy way to tell me they dont care about me as a season ticket holder and alum and ill stop any association with them.
If I have to pay for the seats, contribute to CP and then give to NIL to just keep my seats. I may just be watching on TV. I really struggle with NIL as the whole college model looks like the pro’s. Just raise my prices and leave it alone, do not force me to give to NIL.
I agree, but it also makes sense to credit NIL donors in a similar manner to the way other donations have been credited. It would be stupid to kick someone from their seats in favor of someone else on this basis, and it would also be stupid to require NIL donations (the AD still needs those unrestricted donations to make things work).
Right now, 50/50 Club and other sport-specific contributions count toward priority points, though to a lesser extent than unrestricted donations. It seems to make sense to add NIL contributors to that system.
I’m actually considering contributing to Austin’s NIL fund, but I don’t want to be forced to. I personally like Austin and my wife and I enjoy drinking at his winery. But…the minute it becomes a requirement to do so I feel like the whole name of the game changes.
Sure. I don’t think anyone has suggested doing that.
Which NIL fund is that @Mr_Wolf
We should reseat based on your attendance

I have been saying since all this started, CougarPride will needs to take a haircut. The additional donation you make to buy tickets needs to be go to the NIL and the athletic program needs to find additional sources of revenue.
I am curious how the new revenue sharing plays into this, are all athletic departments going to have to find new sources of revenue or are half the universities going to start operating in to the red. Is it going to be the Allstate Texas Tech Red Raiders, or the Baylor Bears brought to you by State Farms, are they going to pressure the donors to give their NIL money to the school when the schools start giving $20+ million to the athletes directly.
Arkansas basketball is doing something similar and fans are PISSED. Rightfully so. The Hog product is bad and is on the way of not making the tourney two straight seasons. This climate in college athletics is pretty gross and hope UH does not follow suit of the likes of Arkansas, SJU and Mizzou.
I know a lot of yall are against NIL, how do yall feel about revenue sharing?
Probably better for a separate topic.
Probably should move it over the football board, where all the windbags live.
