OT: Texans and Rodeo May Want New Stadium

NRG has hosted all of those. It is just as utilized as the stadium in Atlanta. 2 Super Bowls, 2 Final Fours, International soccer, concerts, NFL, Olympics, Rodeo, World Cup etc.

Everyone can continue to park at NRG for $50.00 and ride the choo choo to the new stadium

They could build a new stadium where the Astrodome sits or tear down NRG center and put it there, or across the freeway on the old Astrodome site.

New stadium.

In Las Vegas some hotels might be torn down after 30 years but during these 30 years they made a ton of money. Has NRG made money or not? That is the question that Harris County tax payers should ask. Every structure has an operating cost. It is known even before the stadium is built. This is part of the study. Any reasonable hotelier puts aside money for future renovations. Why is it that Harris County/HLSR/Texans could not do that? That is on them not the tax payer.
The Bellagio was built in 1998
NRG was built in 2002
Which of the two is kicking ass?
When nfl $Billionaire present us with the idea of a new stadium this is always the ā€œArea redevelopment with shops, amenities, homes, apt buildings etcā€¦ā€ 22 years later they want a new stadium and they want us to pay for it.
ā€œA sucker is born every minuteā€ That is the real nfl mission statement.

But are there two major league sports played at NRG? That was sort of my point.

BTW - I don’t support public funding of stadiums.

MLS is barely a major league and either way, NRG is just as utilized. You act it like it just sits there.

Do you live in Houston?

Half the folks talking on this issue probably live in other cities and counties

Rodeo won’t go anywhere cause they would have to replicate NRG stadium for concerts - that ain’t happening

Folks should question who forced the sams club to shut down and vacate that real estate and now you have a big hotel/condo project on the books by NRG - trust me they ain’t going anywhere as there’s a plan waiting

I’m a Texan season ticket holder. If they build a new stadium and require a new PSL, I’m out. My recliner is much more comfortable.

Explain the question please. I am in the construction industry. It’s great for us but putting myself in an Harris County resident this is highway robbery if indeed they want a new stadium. It makes no financial sense whatsoever.

See, this is the thing. They are thinking about down the line when the lease is up and exploring their options about what would be the most feasible at that time. People act as if they want to do this next season.

Let me ask you. On what ground including facts please should they be asking for a new stadium?

Did you read the articles?

I bet Fort Bend County would play if the finances would work, but getting Montgomery County on board for that much public debt would involve some psychic brainwashing and/or alien body snatching.

Oh yeah. I get it. If the is happens next year or 10 years from now, I’m not paying another PSL. I’m not that emotionally invested in the team. I’ve already started entertaining the idea of dropping the Texans and using some of that money to upgrade my UH seats.

What do you think?

Let me ask the following for anyone that wants a new stadium.
What about Lambeau field?
Think about the question and how it applies to every other nfl franchise.

Let them build $2B palace where ever their hearts desire…long as it’s paid for by the McNair’ and the NFL, have at it. If Joe Taxpayer has to pay for it…El Paso…but we all know who is going to pay for it…You and I are

I hit that when the astros threatened to leave after the oilers did without a new stadum on pro sports, now hitting it with college with NIL, rock concerts about the only things i’ll go to in a stadium or arena.
although i would still go to college baseball in this NIL era, love baseball and college baseball is very unique, very personal lots of baseball family; its was always great experience
