The point is that once a generation of “Hispanics” stop speaking Spanish they will be just as “White” as Italians, Greeks, French, etc. once English became their main language.
And for the definition of “Latin” it literally means “deriving from the Italian peninsula” as in people/culture/language/ religion/ food/ etc.
It’s not going to be white vs non-white…we are slowly creating a new ‘American’ race and yes Hispanic Whites will be a huge component of that makeup…but so will WASPS, ethnic whites, African Americans, Asians, Indians, etc.
This is absurd. There is, and should continue to be, a celebration of different cultures. Maybe you’ll be right in 10,000 years - you’ve been reading Asimov apparently. In the meantime, Africans can’t become one race - yes there is a huge difference between Nigerians and Somalis. Nor can Arabs or Asians.
There are Black Hispanics like Yordan Alvarez and Manny Ramirez, White Hispanics like Princess Leonor of Spain, Asian Hispanics like former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori, and Multi-racial Hispanics like former Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista.
Moreover, can anybody truly tell me that, given what you see above, all Hispanics are members of one race, or that there’s even really such a thing as a “Hispanic” race?
I NEVER said to not celebrate other cultures…in fact, I was defending the German cultural influence to the Mexican culture (which is often overlooked)…i said, as Americans mix…we will see a more homogeneous race…but closer to Southern Italy (Greeks + Romans+ Arabs + French +Northern Africans + Spanish, etc) than Japanese (little mix)
The reason I still disagree with this is because marriage is still largely driven by socioeconomic class
People are likelier to marry someone within their same socioeconomic bracket, and as of today, racial wealth gaps are not only still in place but are significantly getting wider
There’s going to be a $70 Trillion dollar wealth transfer once baby boomers die. What demographic of people do you think will benefit from that?
What I will think will change is that housing will no longer be specifically purposed for families, but that more single people will start buying homes for themselves instead of traditional culture of renting an apartment before buying a house with a spouse
if a WHITE Hispanic has a child in the United states and future generations ditch the Spanish language…those future generations will be viewed as WHITE.
There are only TWO things making a WHITE Hispanic “Hispanic” right now…
Their European ancestor first immigrated to a country south of the United States FIRST
They speak Spanish
If their descendants STOP speaking Spanish…they will become White Americans.
We have 500 years of history of this happening. Formerly French Speaking Cajuns are now viewed as White Red Necks.
I am Italian so let me put this is perspective. In the early 1920s, they passed STRICT Immigration laws essentially prohibiting “Latin” Whites, like Italians, from, entering the United States. They WANTED Northern European Anglos.
My family got in right before that deadline but for those Italians that did NOT…they were forced to immigrate to Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Uruguay Colombia, etc.
An example is Shakira’s Italian family …had they migrated straight to New York City, instead of Colombia…she would be classified as a White American and not “Hispanic”
why are you responding to me? we already know what you are posting…all i said was white Americans aren’t having enough kids, and for a country who’s entire system requires “growth”, it will become a future problem for the entire country
Black Hispanics don’t identify as black in America
Dominicans treat Haitians like trash even though they share an island
Bellaire was a blue collar farming suburb - westbury area and the Lee hs area near the galleria probably was more well off for quite some time until the redevelopments occurred in the 90s then Bellaire became more prestigious
Yes, I am responding to you .because White Hispanics having kids, in the US, is “having” White Kids and fueling the while population
That’s what I am saying.
With each passing generation, the need to speak Spanish diminishes and their European ancestry is all that matters…just as with 500 years of Europeans migration into the current United States.
Because the last census I took had no “Hispanic” racial category. You identified as Hispanic or not only AFTER first identifying your race (Hispanic wasn’t one of the racial categories offered).
I’m guessing that most Black Hispanics that participated in that census didn’t identify as White.
