All this^^^
Iām starting to think 12 teams is too many. 24 teams mean 16-18 who have no legitimate chance to win a multi game playoff. Maybe some one off upsets would make it exciting.
Probably not a popular opinion.
Pretty much agree. Twelve teams might be OK, but when you start getting to 24 teams you have rendered the regular season almost meaningless, and even conference championships begin to be devalued, if they arenāt already.
I mean, Iām willing to bet most SEC or BIG 10 teams would trade 4-5 conference titles for one natty. College football gets less and less interesting all the time due to the consolidation of super conferences and the short sighted chase for the almighty dollar.
It wonāt be long until the only college football I pay any attention to at all is the Coogs, and I just ignore everything else.
Yeah. 24 teams almost certainly means the top half of the Big Ten and SEC both make the playoff. Do we really need a playoff that perennially features Texas A&M and Iowa? Whatās even the point of the regular season in that case?
Staying at 12 will really limit the Big 12 ās opportunity to get multiple teams in the playoffs. 24 really helps out conferenceā¦think about the recent CFP rankings. That also helps our chances in a significant way.
Watch out that ladder doesnāt hit you in the butt when you pull it up behind you.
How could you be in favor for something like this?
This requirement goes against the very essence of college football.
By this asinine requirement it eliminates six of the 10 DIV I FBS leagues.
By this asinine requirement it creates a precedent.
What is stopping these aholes requiring on their next go around that the new requirement is that teams play 10 games against sec or big10 teams?
You understand where this is going?
The ncaa is and has been in bed with these aholes for decades. This is another version of it.
The sec commissioner should be asked to resign for bringing this up. Everyone should be reminded that the ncaa is equal to NOTHING
Iāve spent all those decades (half my life on this planet) rooting for UH while belonging to āGroup ofā conferences and struggling to stay relevant.
We are P4 by the margin of one phone call made by a billionaire at the last hour of need.
Iām tired of putting stakes into the hearts of have nots just so we can claim another CFP spot.
But then maybe my priorities are messed up.
Kinda hard when other P4 teams donāt want to play you.
Who doesnāt want to play who?
I think they will make all p4 play 10 p4s but will have exception for g6. They have to let 1 g6 in
What is the actual point of Chris Lows post? None of those teams are vying for a spot in a 24 team playoff game this year. One would assume that should such a rule be put into place, those teams would adjust their freakinā schedule so they could compete⦠sorry, I actually do know the point of the tweet, and I took the bait.
Yes, you are correct. That Chris Lows post was pointless since there is no 24 team playoff this year. They are considering starting it 2027-2028.
PLEASEā¦P4 and ND rule college football and ESPN likes it that wayā¦i see a 6-6-4-4 -1 for P4s and ND and 3 open spots for whoever, that will include highest G6. Thats what Espn wantsā¦With 4 Big 12 slots, thats what i want, too.
Four B12 invites to the CFP is a huge win for the B12. Currently the B12 is fighting for two. Four gives UH and other teams a realistic shot every year to compete in the CFP. Letās make this happen.
How about the years where the Big XII has six teams that should make it and the SEC and the Big Ten have four teams that should make it? Gonna be happy then?
Thats what the 3 open slots are for, Larryā¦
Sec and b10 should get what the b12 receives, (4). Let their 5th and 6th place vie for the extra slots against all the 5th and 6th place teams
Bullpoopā¦
The extra spots are for EXTRA SEC and Big 10 teams in the real world.
Naive much?
