If that’s what it takes to get to 24 I say go for it.
So then NO group of 6 programs could be in the playoff.
I call b ulls hit!
Several obstacles:
lol let’s have requirements for P4 teams but there’s ND not joining any.
I thought we’re still playing an OOC schedule set when we were in the AAC and the Pac-12 was still a major.
They want to split the division. It’s been obvious since ut and ou dipped. Every move they make inches closer to that end
We already play 10 p4 teams so we’re good . I like the idea. They will make a way for g6
In our defense, Oregon St was still considered P4 when we scheduled them.
This was my point.
Total BS!
I think that is fine if you want to be considered for a at large bid. G6 gets their autobid. This will be the last year that we only have 9 P4 teams on the schedule… folks already correctly pointed this out that this was due to Pac 12 implosion… OSU was P5 when we scheduled them. This will correct next year with LSU…
I really like the 24 playoff format as it is the sweet spot for the Big 12 to always get 4+ teams routinely in… and I think we could be part of that group at least every other year!
Never been to Idaho, looks like I see a 2030 road trip on the horizon
I’m fine if this applies to at-large teams. I would hope that any future playoff format still continues to have auto bids for all the P4 leagues and at least 1 G6 champ.
Is the OU game in 2028 in Reliant or TDECU?
It’s scheduled to be at TDECU. The LSU game next year is at NRG.
Seems like they owe us a home game
4 for each P4 conference, with the conf champs getting a guaranteed spot. > 16 Total
1 for each group of 6 champ > 6 Total
2 at large > 2 Total
If ND wants to remain independent, they can fight for 1 of the 2 at large bids.
Just throwing ideas around.
IMO, ANY scenario that prevents ANY FBS team from having a path is a non-starter.
If Notre Dame got the CFP Committee to agree to let them in if they are ranked in the top 12 of the CFP Committee, what make you think they won’t try and change that to the top 24 of the CFP Committee, if college football goes to a 24 team playoff?
They should file suit, or at least threaten massive legal action, right now to prevent this.
Also, the NCAA should get off its arse and implement this itself and give every conference a team in, guaranteed, JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER SPORT ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET.
Otherwise its just more of the same crapola we’ve been experiencing that is geared NOT to get a legitimate “champion” but instead to steer money towards conferences.
Its self dealing is all. It’s the opposite of competition.
Shame on all involved.
