Yes, there are teams averaging 100K attendance, but except for UT and A&M, we are bigger than most schools, third in Texas and almost twice the size of Oklahoma, yet, we would be delighted to have 30K. We rely on opposing teams fans to fill our stadium. The “real” school experience mentioned is what students are looking for, but Dr. Khator is trying. We are 6 months away from complete revitalization of our campus for 100 year celebration, lets hope it shows everywhere.
I don’t need to be like ut, A&M, Michigan, etc. Give me more teams like the ones who drew great crowds when we beat TT, Memphis and Louisville and OU at NRG and I can more than live with where we are as a program.
There is some truth to what Butch said. EVERY game can now be viewed from the comforts at home. The more they keep gauging the fans with rising costs the easier it will be for them to save more time and stay home.
Then again we still have attendance complainers about basketball that sells out every game because there are some unfilled seats.
Weird how UCF and ASU managed to put fans in the stands for a team that’s usually mid-pack in the Big 12. Of course, they’re not out here trying to beg the single most pathetic fanbase in the P4 to fill their stadium.
Blaming the weather when it’s 70 degrees out and clear at kickoff is embarrassing. It rained earlier in the day; wipe your bleacher off and get over it. It was 20 degrees colder for Purdue @ Michigan the same day.
And that’s without even getting into the similarly bad Arizona game.
Too simple an explanation to be wrong, but there will always be those who try to pontificate and complicate to push an agenda (ie “why do athletes need to be paid for their efforts, aren’t scholarships enough…. Whah, whah, whah”).
