Since it’s the offseason, time to talk about random football stuff.
They say he was a better quarterback than he was a catcher. Mauer recently said that if minor league baseball hadn’t worked out, Coach Bowden said he still had a spot at FSU and would have went back to football. I wonder what could have been had he chose football. We could have been easily talking about Mauer being the GOAT NFL qb instead of Brady or Manning.
Longtime Cougars will remember this story. Coach Yeoman offered a hotshot QB from Louisiana named Vida Blue in the late 1960s. Blue chose professional baseball as a pitcher rather than college football. Who is Vida Blue?

I read up that Vida would’ve chosen football but his dad died suddenly and he had to take care of his family.
Throwing for 3,000+ in the 1960s was unheard of.
Carl Crawford is another QB that picked baseball over football he was probably going to be the next great option QB at Nebraska.
