This is why we need that additional BILLION this November.

We’ll immediately move up to the Top 35 overall…and Top 25 PUBLICS.

SMU should be on that list, they have a $2billion endowment.

how much is the smu endowment fund - Google Search

“$2 billion
The SMU Endowment was established in 1914 with a gift of $111,540 from the General Education Board of The Methodist Church. The Endowment now represents over $2 billion in assets that are invested in a diversified portfolio designed to ensure current support as well as growth for the future.”

I totally agree with Ryan, but we need to continue to increase our endowment fund.

SMU isn’t P5

Oh yeah, I overlooked that part.

It will increase as more alums leave something in their will to the University of Houston.

That’s why you see these older Universities with huge endowments compared to a newer school like UCF’s $200 million which was only created in 1963.

We know that UT’s and TAMU’s endowments are aided by the PUF so they have moth sides working for them (public funds + estate gifts) unless the school is in a historically poor state (most SEC schools) and their alums don’t have as much wealth to contribute.

Ours will jump to 2 billion if we pass the Texas University Fund in November

We need to be a well endowed university…

Is it good enough to be well endowed individually?

UT’s and A&M’s are system wide. Same with Michigan.

When I looked last year, UT Austin’s share is ~$13B. Nothing to sneeze at, but not as much as advertised.

Well, the state surely won’t help with that. It seems like the state will make efforts to not allow for that to be the case.

Damn. Bama and Lsu are way lower than I expected.

Endowment is also a weird measurement.

It would be more interesting to look at budget + endowment + research funds per capita.

It depends on what you are trying to measure.

A chunk of SEC schools are in poor states or have a number of their fans live in mobile homes.

I doubt they have money to donate to the university.
