I find it a bit troubling that a minority of UH fans almost go out of their way to diminish UH’s 17-13 win against Auburn in the 2021 Birmingham Bowl. Its a bowl game win in the opponent’s back yard. Enjoy the accomplishment and try not to downplay it.

It’s disingenuous because you know the same people raked Major for the embarrassing bowl game against Army. Either the bowls count or they don’t. Can’t have it both ways.

I wasn’t downplaying it. I was making a comparison. But honestly, now that you mention it, that season was the easiest possible schedule for Dana to navigate through. Plus, Auburn sat a bunch of players.

He said that the PAC commissioner’s claim is valid if Oregon State beats UH and I compared that to UH beating Auburn and how that win didn’t make the AAC on the same level as the SEC. I think my point worked, whether he I agree on it or not.

She didn’t say the Pac would be on par with the B12. She was saying that the Pac would be closer in level to the ACC/B12 than to the G5 leagues. Similarly Mike Aresco never said the AAC was on the same level as the SEC. That’s not what the P6 narrative was about. It was about distinguishing the AAC from the G5 by saying the AAC was closer to the P5 than it was to the other G5 leagues. And that’s more or less what Pac commissioner was saying. Heres one of her quotes: “We are in a lane of our own, and the metrics support that.”

We’ll see if that ends up turning out to be true but yes, every win they can notch against the ACC/B12 helps push that narrative. Similarly every win the AAC notched against P5 opponents helped to elevate that league above the rest of the G5.
