They still need 2 more. UTSA and Memphis are my guesses.
Maybe replace UTSA with Tulane
Bring back some OGs Idaho Vandals and Montana Grizzlies
Utah State has got to be in consideration Iâm sure. Would be a great addition.
To get back whole to Pac10, four more could be UNLV, New Mexico, and footprint in Tx add UTSA and Rice.
Utah St and Tulane
I would take TxSt over UTSA.
Itâs happening.

I think this only proves that ESPN is attempting to destroy the ACC, and this would inevitably give Cal and Stanford (possibly SMU) a home once the ACC collapses. I am not sure this would qualify as an autonomous power conference, but itâs better than what the ACC gives them.
That then likely leaves FSU, UNC, UVA, and perhaps Notre Dame to deflect to the Big 10/SEC.
The remaining hot brands left in the ACC would funnel into the Big 12.
Thatâs more than one conspiracy.
Add Utah State & Texas State, and you have the âAll State Conferenceâ.
How about UNT after they beat Tech this weekend? Or TX State if they beat ASU?
No way would SMU leave the ACC remnants to join that ragtag group of Pac12 academic powerhouses.
Seems like getting into Nevada would be smart with either UNLV or Nevada. Maybe New Mexico as well. Then add Tulane, the Mudcats and your best Texas option for the best remaining brands.
I agree, i definitely thought UNLV would be one of the adds.
I donât think they are done.
Letâs just hope they donât build this conference into a P5 with an automatic bid
Stanford and Cal, along with OSU and WSU, could have rebuilt the PAC instead of bolting for the ACCâŠthey chose not to.
Had they stayed + these 4 would have given them 8 and maybe they could have kept their P5 status.
Them vacating hurts that P5 label
Itâs possible, but I think the biggest obstacles facing both the PAC and the ACC is their regional identity, specially being on the coasts.
The biggest strengths that both the SEC and Big 12 have is having a large, central presence, that has the choice to expand in either direction mostly in a comfortable manner.
I wouldnât disagree, but Cal and Stanford have massive egos and see themselves miles above WSU and OSU.
Even in the hypothetical collapse of the ACC, I still think that Stanford is going to find any and every way to try and get into the Big Ten, with the PAC being Option B.
A Re-built regional PAC 12 could have been
- Oregon State
- Washington State
- Stanford
- CAL
- San Diego State
- Boise
- Colorado State
- Fresno
- UNLV
- SMU
- UTSA or North Texas or Texas State
- New Mexico or Tulane
THAT would still be a regional conference
The PAC AD really botched this on all fronts
Itâs not a bad collection of schools, but I donât think Cal and Stanford are going to give up trying to get into the Big Ten, more so Stanford.
Stanford and Cal really value their academic integrity, and joining a conference like the one you just listed out is a massive hit to their ego and pride. (Not a single one of those schools is an AAU member)
That being said, I just donât see how a school like UTSA would make that much more money in a rebuilt PAC12 where itâs even worth leaving the AAC.
Time will tell how this all plays out
Theyâll try, but they wonât succeed.
The B1G will take one look at how Stanfordâs stadium looks on game day, and say âno thanks.â
I agree. I think Stanford is in a bad spot, and they will have to swallow their pride or just drop football all together.
The only way I see them getting into the Big Ten is if they get some kind of Notre Dame sponsor (Notre Dame was one of the biggest pushers for ACC expansion with Calford.)
Otherwise, I agree, itâs a no for Stanford in the Big Ten. I think the Big Ten has room for 2 more schools, which will be a 2-team combination of Notre Dame and/or UNC and/or Texas A&M and/or FSU (unless they poach Utah and/or Kansas)
Otherwise, UNC and UVA are headed to the SEC. FSU goes Big 12 if rejected by the Big Ten.
