Cornhuskers.
Right⊠at the UH v Tech game who is in red?
This reeks of âWhen your not a sports reporter but want to dip you hand in sportsâ lol
Chris writes for the Astros, Papercity and of course us. I think that qualifies him as a sports reporter.
Zeon Chriss never meant to be a starter. He was a transfer from U of Louisiana to be a backup to Donovan.
Donovan was always going to be the starter, but he just wasnât playing good by the mid season and then Zeon came in.
The QB situation last year was just a bad situation that was largely the result of Dana. This year I would suggest is the first real Fritz-tailored QB room.
I would add the caveat that the situation was exacerbated by Smithâs shoulder injuryâŠ
Smith was decent the prior year.
I would use the term inconsistent rather than âdecentâ, but itâs inconsistency that has plagued him even in his days at Tech
Zeon was also dealing with injuries much of the season from what I recall
Thatâs a lot of handoffs.
Queue Casablanca: Round up the usual suspects
It did during Hermanâs winning stint. Then we made two bad coaching hires and fan support cratered. CDH offered nothing
Iâm actually looking forward to watch this kid play. He canât be any worse than last year. Ha
CDH, the so called QB guru, never recruited a high level QB. He was a total waste of salary
I agreeâŠi âwasâ hoping our sea of red wiould instantly representive of the Houston Cougars like it is with Nebraska or any of the other dozen orher examples where one color is instantly linked to a program.
Oh wellâŠ
Cool. Itâs his job to lose now, as Iâm sure Chriss & Carlisle are both gonna be competing for the #1 spot, should he not perform adequatelyâŠ
And thatâs a good problem to have
We could realistically have all three playing in some packages. They all bring a distinctive advantage and hard to prepare for.
Watch corn or watch a football team lose⊠tough choiceâŠ
I donât think he joined the UH Football program expecting to be in the Big 12
Nor did he expect the portal and NIL
Doesnât excuse his effort, but the job he initially wanted wasnât what the job ended up becoming
I think heâs making quicker decisions. He seemed hesitant last year to pull the trigger - seems less so this preseason.
One of the reasons Holgorsen was hired was his experience bringing West Virginia into the B12. There had to be some recognition from UH Leadership that an invite to a better conference was a possibility. He also had a previous successful stint at UH as OC.
The whole experience showed that Holgorsen was a better OC than HC. It also showed that Holgorsen did not like, or perform particularly well, critical head coaching job functions.
I donât buy that.
Holgorsen didnât bring WVU to the Big 12. That was going to happen regardless (given Missouri had just left), and he was unsuccessful in the Big 12 while at WVU with the exception of 1 good season in 2016.
Dana also did not bring UH to the Big 12. Tom Herman did.
Holgorsen took the job at UH because he was on the hot seat at WVU, and he was buddies with Tilman. He also expected UH to be an easy G5 job (and it very well couldâve been, but thatâs not the reality of what happened obviously as we joined the Big 12 / NIL / Portal)
