So the 30 for 30 you saw on this says that USC with black players had to whip Alabama in Tuscaloosa before the university admin would allow black athletes even after the campus was forcibly integrated? Incredible. One more reason why I’m glad I don’t live there.
Yes they exlplained how all Black citizens and their children stood on every roof of houses around the stadium so they could witness this and see John McKay run out on the sidelines like William Tecumseh Sherman. Historical
Same went for Guy Lewis who made college basketball popular. On the football it was Bill Yoeman and trying to get into the SWC. Same deal. We would win 100 to whatever and Yoeman’s Veer was Feered!
When we got into the SWC we were quite successful, beating UT AT memorial and cotton bowls. Those were fun days!!!
Even then the northeast schools got most of the respect because of all the people in those densely populated areas and their heavily biased reporting for big publications.
edit to include: Another thing for you young 'uns, is that even back then OU had 50% Texas high school players on their rosters.
Yea, the UT testicle fixation… they were just angry at Bevo being a disengendered male, heh!
