Story about the “forever chemicals” , PFAS, being found on farmlands.
Source was the use of fertilizer that was used from waste water plants
residue sewage. Apparently the process of disposing of this has been going
on for decades.
There is defiantly a lot of plastic in human wastewater due to condoms, plastic tampon applicators and other things people routinely flush. Its a constant stream into those plants. They try to bar screen it out but a ton gets through much of it gets ground up and included with waste sludge that’s used.
We tend to focus on pollution of the air, but I think the other chemicals we create that are in the water and in the ground are causing us problems. I am not sure what to do about plastic, but it is pervasive in our society and now they are finding microplastics everywhere (e.g., placentas).
