But the Big 12 stupidly is scrutinized as not being a strength of schedule conference like they like to paint the Big Ten and SEC.

If we don’t make the CCG, and win it, we don’t make the stinking playoffs. The OP put the cart before the horse. Our chances of making the CCG only comes with 4 more wins for us, let’s start by winning games.

At this point forget the playoffs. Just get to the championship game
Need to run the table, and need
Tech to lose two more games and
Utah to lose three games or BYU to lose two more
Don’t see it happening . We had our opportunities at Utah.We blew it.

Hers’s one scenario:
. Utah wins out, giving BYU 2 losses
. Tech loses to Oklahoma State and Arizona
. We win out, having tie breakers with other 2 loss teams — BYU (common opponent UCF) and Oklahoma State & UCF head to head).
We’re then in CCG
Win that and we’re in CFP
How do like those apples?

BYU is not losing another game . Utah has a tougher schedule coming up at Cincy and at Arizona
Utah and Tech must lose this week to keep the door open
I doubt we will get in the CFP, but it isn’t impossible. We will have to win out and a bunch of teams above us have to lose 3 or more. UT probably has to lose 4 or 5 games.

Only 14 Power programs have fewer than 2 losses, and we are still in October.
We have a lot of parity in College Football.
No Big 12 school is going undefeated.

Before our Utah game I did not expect us to win. In fact I thought the spread was generous and I do not bet.
Clearly we are all disappointed that we did not win but we are much further along than I thought. If there was a time for Mr. Fertitta to contribute even more this would be the time to do it.

Only problem is you seem to be forgetting Arizona who only has one conference loss. If they win in Lubbock their remaining schedule is 3 home games and at K State.

As an at-large I think that’s true. As long as there’s a sliver of hope for making the CCG though, we’re still live.
We lose tie breakers vs Tx Tech and Utah. Each would have to lose 3 for us to make Title Game.
We do have tie breaker vs BYU. We beat UCF.
Not impossible. But tough.
